Games of the season: Chievo 3-5 Roma

Roma were given a scare in Week 37 as they closed-in on second place, just about coming out on top at Chievo.

The Giallorossi still had very slim hopes of winning the title, having beaten Juventus at the Olimpico in the previous round of games.

They had Edin Dzeko back from injury and Kevin Strootman returned from a two-match suspension, though Radja Nainggolan missed out with a calf problem.

However, the Flying Donkeys took an early lead when Lucas Castro got in front of Antonio Rudiger and converted Roberto Inglese’s knockdown.

The teenage attacker has scored eight goals for Ascoli this season and spent the previous campaign on loan at Juventus’ Primavera side, where he netted 20 times.

Inglese hat-trick at 10-man Sassuolo

Roberto Inglese started out by seeing a penalty saved, but ended with his debut Serie A hat-trick as Chievo fought back to beat 10-man Sassuolo.

Inglese recovered from that early penalty upset by going on to bag a treble at the Mapei Stadium.

It’s the second consecutive away victory for the Flying Donkeys after stunning Lazio.

Chievo shock wasteful Lazio

Lazio dominated this match and Stefano Sorrentino made at least five heroic saves before Chievo snatched a 1-0 win at the death.

It seemed inevitable that Simone Inzaghi’s men would break through eventually, despite the best efforts of 37-year-old goalkeeper Sorrentino.

Roberto Inglese’s scuffed shot in the final minute of regular time made the difference and punished the hosts for their wasteful finishing.

It’s just what Chievo needed to end a run of five consecutive defeats in all competition.
