Szczesny out of Juve-Udinese

Wojciech Szczesny has pulled out of the Juventus squad for today’s game with Udinese after a shoulder injury.

It kicks off at 14.00 GMT, you can follow the build-up and action as it happens from all today’s Serie A games on the LIVEBLOG.

“Wojciech Szczesny reported a slight discomfort in his right shoulder this morning, as such he will be rested as a precaution. Mattia Perin has been called up in his place,” read a statement from the club.

Szczesny: 'I hate newspapers!'

Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has revealed that “I hate newspapers. Player ratings make me laugh.”

The Pole gave a lengthy interview to his club on Friday, starting off by explaining how became a shot-stopper.

“I did it for my dad [to become a goalkeeper], plus I was always the best amongst my friends. I knew right away that I was better in goal than outfield.

“I believe that you are born to be a goalkeeper because you must be a particular type of person. There is no room for error.

Cuadrado agreeing new Juve deal

Multiple reports suggest that Juan Cuadrado will sign a contract extention with Juventus, along with Leonardo Bonucci and Wojciech Szczesny.

The Colombian, who has been at Juve since 2015, will sign a two-year extension to his current deal, which expires next summer, according to Tuttosport, Sky Sport Italia and more.

Cuadrado has played as a makeshift right-back this season, due to the club's injury problems in the position.

He joins goalkeeper Szczesny and defender Bonucci in renewing with the Bianconeri in recent days.

Szczesny to renew with Juve

Juventus stopper Wojciech Szczesny is close to renewing his contract to 2024, according to Sky Sport Italia expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

The former Arsenal keeper has been with Juve since signing in the summer of 2017 for €14m, following a loan spell at Roma.

He signed as a back-up 'keeper to Gigi Buffon in 2017-18, shadowing the legendary player for a season before taking his position as the veteran left for Paris Saint Germain.

Szczesny has been the first choice since then, even with Buffon returning to the club this season.

Szczesny: 'Role changed at Juventus'

Wojciech Szczesny discussed having Gigi Buffon as an understudy, his changing role at Juventus under Maurizio Sarri and Matthijs de Ligt “stealing his place” between the sticks.

The goalkeeper has started eight games in the League this term and has claimed the starting position in front of veteran Buffon.

“I admit it is very strange to have Gigi Buffon as my back-up," the Poland international told Tuttosport. “A few years ago, it would have seemed crazy to even think of such a scenario.

Szczesny: 'Juve need clean sheets'

Wojciech Szczesny admits Juventus had gone “too long” without clean sheets and hopes they can keep another one against Lokomotiv Moscow.

Szczesny has been rotating in goal with Gianluigi Buffon lately but has so far played in all three of Juve’s Champions League games this season, and he is happy to compete with the returning veteran.

“Gigi is still a great goalkeeper and is a great person,” the 29-year-old said at a Press conference.

Juve work on Szczesny renewal

Juventus are working on a new deal to keep goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny at the club until 2024.

The Poland international has grown to become the Bianconeri’s first choice between the sticks, despite the return of Gianluigi Buffon.

Now, Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolò Schira reports Juve are locked in talks to tie him down to a new contract worth €4.5m a year.

Szczesny has started six Serie A matches so far in 2019-20 but has kept just one clean sheet and was replaced by Buffon in the win against Genoa midweek.

Man United wanted Szczesny

Manchester United had asked Juventus for the availability of Wojciech Szczesny before David De Gea extended his contract, claim reports.

According to Sun Sport, Szczesny was suggested to the club by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the summer.

De Gea had been widely expected to leave, but instead put pen to paper on a new four-year deal in September.

As for the Poland international, his current contract with Juventus is due to expire in June 2021.
