Wojciech Szczesny admits “dreams have become objectives” for Juventus with Cristiano Ronaldo. “We’re one of the strongest teams in the world.”

The Bianconeri already dominated Serie A for seven consecutive campaigns, but brought in Ronaldo, Emre Can, Mattia Perin and the return of Leonardo Bonucci.

“It was a great transfer session that brings real enthusiasm,” Szczesny told Sky Sport Italia.

Szczesny: ‘Perin is very strong but…’

Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny admits Mattia Perin is “a very strong goalkeeper” but “I think I’m ahead”.

The Pole played backup to Gianluigi Buffon last season, but still played 17 Serie A games for the Bianconeri.

Buffon has now departed for Paris Saint-Germain, so Perin has been brought in from Genoa to challenge the 28-year-old for the starting shirt.

“He’s a very strong goalkeeper,” Szczesny admitted, speaking to Sky.

WC Player Profile: Wojciech Szczesny

The goalkeeper pushed his way to the starting XI at Juventus and Poland after going from strength to strength, writes Anthony Barbagallo.

Wojciech Szczesny had fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal, but two years on loan at Roma allowed him to rediscover his confidence.

A surprise transfer to Juve followed and he has now replaced Gianluigi Buffon in the first choice gloves - at least for now, as Mattia Perin is eager to take the same path.

WC Player Profile: Alisson

In a year Alisson has gone from Roma back-up goalkeeper to one of the best in the world, explains Richard Hall.

The shot-stopper was understudy to Wojciech Szczesny until 10 months ago, reduced only to cameos in cup competitions.

He used the time wisely to improve his positioning, adapt to the European game and hone those already explosive reflexes.

With a price-tag of €80m attracting the likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool, Alisson Becker’s profile can take another big step forward at the World Cup in Russia.

World Cup: Howler costs Poland

A defensive howler and an own goal saw Poland lose 2-1 to Senegal in the final match of the first round of World Cup games.

The Poles featured a number of Serie A players, including Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny and Piotr Zielinski and Arkadiusz Milik of Napoli.

It was the African side who started on the front foot though, with Torino’s M’Baye Niang failing to pick out a man in the middle after a good run down the left.

They took a deserved lead just after the half hour mark, but it was a nightmare for Spal defender Thiago Cionek.
