Serie A Team of Week 25

As the top two continue to break away, but European and relegation battles hot up, Marcello Cossali-Francis picks his best XI from Week 25.

Emiliano Viviano (Sampdoria)

Had it not been for Viviano, Milan would have had more than just the one goal in this match. Made a brilliant penalty save from Ricardo Rodriguez down to his left, which ultimately kept the away side in the game. Could have done better perhaps for Milan’s goal, but more than made up for it with the rest of his performance.

Salvatore Sirigu [Torino]

From the start he had to be alert stopping almost an own goal from Lyanco. Afterwards his succession of superb saves and blocks prevented a cricket score. Could do little about Paulo Dybala and Miralem Pjanic’s goals but was outstanding with his fantastic reaction save on Medhi Benatia’s downward header. Exceptional.

Serie A Team of Week 35

Following Roma’s victory over Milan, which saw Napoli drop back into third, and with Juve needing to wait another week before they can be crowned champions after their derby draw, Dave Taylor selects his best XI from Week 35.

Eugenio Lamanna [Genoa]

One of the reasons that Inter limped away from Marassi without anything to show for their visit was down to the 27-year-old. Not only did he save a penalty at the very death, but he also got his hands on Eder’s thunderbolt and a deflected Andrea Candreva stinger. Superb.
