Lazio: SMS skips Bologna?

SMS blames Vidal for Immobile red

Lazio midfield star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic blames Arturo Vidal for the red card shown to Ciro Immobile in the second half of Lazio-Inter.

The Italy striker was sent off after 70 minutes following a bust-up with Inter’s newcomer. The Chile star brought down Immobile from behind, went close to the striker, probably to urge him to stand up quickly, and the striker flapped at him with an angry hand. Vidal went down clutching his face, prompting a straight red card for a ‘reaction foul’ for the Lazio striker.

Lazio set Milinkovic-Savic price

Italian reports claim Lazio and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic have agreed he won’t even consider a transfer for under €80m.

The 25-year-old helped them secure a top four Serie A finish, which should be enough to reach the Champions League.

He scored seven goals and provided seven assists in 40 competitive games, which saw Lazio win the Italian Super Cup in December.

According to La Repubblica newspaper, the club and midfielder came to an agreement that no offer will even be considered this summer for under €80m.

Lazio honour in defeat

The Scudetto was a dream too far, but despite defeat to Juventus, Richard Hall insists Lazio can be more than proud of this exceptional season.

The story of the night belonged in Turin, as Juventus all but secured their ninth consecutive Scudetto thanks to a certain Cristiano Ronaldo and his brace. The game was, however, not an easy one and a depleted Lazio could take great credit from the way they performed. This has been the case all season apart from after the break from the pandemic, where they have struggled to recapture their exciting and devastating brand of football. For the Roman club this was not a night for regrets however, as the future looks bright and this season can certainly be considered a success.

Will Lazio go to the next level?

With Champions League qualification within reach, Lee Bushe wonders if Lazio will reinvest in a deeper squad or carry on penny-pinching…

Barring a catastrophe, Lazio should qualify for the Champions League come the end of the season. Booking their spot in Europe’s elite competition is an impressive achievement, but they will feel slightly disappointed that they weren’t able to push Juventus all the way in the end.

Report: Lazio prepare to sell Milinkovic

Lazio are reportedly lowering the asking price for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and prepare to sell the Serbian after the current campaign.

President Claudio Lotito has previously asked €100m for the player, but Calciomercato.com claims he has decided to lower his expectations and let the star go for €70m this summer.

The outlet claims the Biancocelesti ace could therefore move abroad this summer, as the other Italian teams will struggle to meet the required amount to keep the attacking midfielder in Serie A.

Atalanta and Lazio didn't let us down

The great entertainers of Serie A went head-to-head and more than lived up to the billing, as Giancarlo Rinaldi relished Atalanta’s 3-2 win over Lazio.

There’s always a danger in anticipating a game too much. It was more than possible - after all - that the lengthy break might have dulled Atalanta and Lazio’s ability to entertain. In the end, though, we need not have worried.
