Ballardini: ‘Extraordinary Genoa season’

Davide Ballardini makes a public pitch to keep his job - “we came here with Genoa bottom on six points”.

The Coach replaced Ivan Juric in November, on a contract which runs to the end of the season with an option for a further year.

“If the President [Enrico Preziosi] has already decided then meetings won’t help,” Ballardini shrugged, speaking in his Press conference following tonight’s 3-1 win over Verona.

Genoa: Perin can leave, Rossi…

Genoa owner Enrico Preziosi admits Mattia Perin can leave ‘if a big opportunity arises’ and hopes to keep Giuseppe Rossi, who ‘makes love with the ball’.

Preziosi’s remarks will surely put Napoli on red alert for Perin and encourage Rossi, who has made just five goalless appearances for Genoa since his free transfer in January, although Coach Davide Ballardini may feel aggrieved after turning the Grifone’s season around.

Perin: 'Genoa must keep Ballardini'

Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin insists Davide Ballardini “simply has to be” the Coach next season. “It shouldn’t even be a question.”

Ballardini took over from Ivan Juric on November 6 with a contract to the end of the season and turned their campaign around for the third time.

Ballardini bullish on Genoa future

Genoa: Pippo to replace Ballardini?

The website puts forward former Crotone boss Davide Nicola, Chievo trainer Rolando Maran and SPAL’s Leonardo Semplici as possible replacements but notes there is a ‘completely new’ name emerging in Inzaghi.
