Lukaku and Mertens in Belgium squad

Napoli forward Dries Mertens and Inter striker Romelu Lukaku have been called up for Euro 2020 by Belgium CT Roberto Martinez.

The Partenopei forward and the Nerazzurri striker will thus represent Serie A in the Red Devils’ squad, while Milan winger Alexis Saelmaekers, capped once so far, is on stand-by for now.

Lukaku has played 91 games with Belgium, contributing 59 goals in the process and played in the World Cup 2014 and 2018 and the European Championship in 2016.

Lautaro Martinez confirms he had been very close to joining Barcelona and discussed it with Lionel Messi, but ‘made the right decision’ sticking with Inter.

The Argentina international confessed the situation had been at a very advanced stage last summer, although the two clubs failed to reach an agreement.

Inter forward Romelu Lukaku reportedly faces sanctions after birthday celebrations in a hotel, as the party ended with the arrival of the local police.

Corriere della Sera reports the police entered a hotel in the centre of Milan around three in the morning and found the Belgian striker celebrating his birthday after the 3-1 win over Roma.

The newspaper reveals Achraf Hakimi, Ivan Perisic and Ashley Young were among the 24 people identified at the party, including the manager of the hotel restaurant, who organised the event.

Lukaku names his favourite Inter players

Romelu Lukaku says he always wanted to play for Inter and names his favourite players in the Nerazzurri's history.

The Belgian forward moved to the Stadio Meazza from Manchester United in 2019.
