Bologna miss out on Santa Cruz

Bologna have missed out on striker Roque Santa Cruz after the Paraguay international signed for Malaga.

The forward spent last season on loan at the Andalusian club, and after his contract expired at parent club Manchester City, Bernd Schuster men were quick to snap up the 31-year-old.

Roque Santa Cruz could pull out of his move to Bologna after reports he cancelled his flight from Paraguay.

The striker is a free agent after his contract with Manchester City expired, having gone on loan to Malaga last season.

Santa Cruz due for Bologna medical

Roque Santa Cruz is expected in Bologna on Thursday for a medical after Hamburg confirmed he rejected their offer.

The 31-year-old former Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Malaga striker is a free agent after his contract with the Premier League side expired.

He had been considering a return to the Bundesliga, but Hamburg revealed their negotiations were over.

Bologna-Santa Cruz deal stalls

Bologna’s otherwise agreed move for Roque Santa Cruz could fall through due to the player’s outstanding dispute with a former agent.

It is believed that the Paraguayan international, who is a free agent this summer having left Manchester City at the expiry of his contract, is close to an agreement with the Felsinei.

However, whilst only minor details on the club’s €1.2m contract offer are reportedly needed, it is understood that the deal could collapse entirely due to Bologna losing patience.

Santa Cruz 'can't wait' to join Lazio

Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz claims he can't wait to join Lazio, although a formal announcement confirming the deal has yet to arrive.

Lazio have been interested in the Paraguay international since the summer when a deal to sign him was called off at the last minute.

Edy Reja is keen to bring in a target man to give his side a chance of qualifying for next season's Champions League.

The Aquile currently lie second in Serie A, just three points behind League leaders Milan.

Lazio accept Santa Cruz rejection

Roque Santa Cruz has rejected a loan spell at Lazio and President Claudio Lotito insists he “understands his ambitions” for a permanent move.

The Manchester City striker seemed on the cusp of making the six-month transfer to Rome, but turned it down because of the family upheaval it would cause.

“We take into account Santa Cruz's reaction and his desire to make any transfer permanent,” commented Lotito.

Lazio strike Santa Cruz loan deal

Roque Santa Cruz is expected to join Lazio on loan from Manchester City in the next few days.

The striker had already been very close to this transfer during the summer, but negotiations collapsed at the last minute.

Now there are numerous reports in Italy and England that the 29-year-old striker will arrive at the Stadio Olimpico before 2010 is out.

The deal would see Lazio pay €300,000 for a six-month loan and the option to buy at the end of the season for €3m.
