Fiorentina: 'Montella stays'

Fiorentina director of sport Daniele Pradè assures Vincenzo Montella “will be on the bench against Inter and Roma, then we’ll see.”

The Viola are plunging down the Serie A table after their fourth consecutive defeat, falling 2-1 at Torino this afternoon.

President Rocco Commisso was in the stands of the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino and when asked what will happen with Montella, he simply shrugged.

Montella: 'I have confidence'

Vincenzo Montella tried to look at the positive side after Fiorentina lost to Torino and shrugged off sack talk. “I have confidence we can turn it around.”

It was a fourth consecutive Serie A defeat for the Viola, who fell 2-1 at Torino with only a stoppage-time Martin Caceres consolation goal.

“I thought the team played very well in the second half and ultimately deserved a point out of it,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

Ancelotti shrugs off Gattuso rumours

Carlo Ancelotti tried to think positive after a 1-1 draw with Udinese, but confessed the Napoli squad was “apathetic” and shrugged off Gennaro Gattuso rumours.

The Partenopei are now without a win in nine competitive games, including seven Serie A rounds.

“The second half was a good reaction, above all an improvement in attitude. I guess that’s a positive sign, but the first half was very negative, as we were in a really bad way,” Ancelotti told Sky Sport Italia.

Giuntoli: 'Ancelotti has experience'

Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli commented on Carlo Ancelotti’s job status. “We believe he has the experience to emerge from this negative period.”

Commisso on Chiesa and Gattuso

Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso admits he will “make Federico Chiesa happy if he wants to leave” and “really likes” Gennaro Gattuso, but Vincenzo Montella "has my confidence for now."

The Viola have struggled so far this season and there continue to be reports coach Montella is hanging by a thread.

Among the candidates to replace him on the bench, the favourite is former Milan boss Gattuso.

Napoli want Ibrahimovic for Europe

Milan and Bologna remain interested, but there are reports Napoli are ready to snap up Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the Champions League.

The striker is a free agent after his contract with the LA Galaxy ran down and has dropped numerous hints he is returning to Italy.

He already played in Serie A for Juventus, Inter and Milan, with the Rossoneri believed to be the favourites for his signature.

Bologna are also making a proposal and he’d be working with good friend Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Ancelotti in PSG return?

Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti could return to Paris Saint-Germain next summer, claims one French report.

Ancelotti’s position seems to be getting less secure with each passing day, Napoli’s 2-1 defeat to Bologna last weekend the latest in a string of poor performances.

It was claimed on Tuesday evening that the 60-year-old would be dismissed after the Champions League game against Genk next week, with Gennaro Gattuso set to take over.

Reports: Napoli in Gattuso talks

Gennaro Gattuso has been contacted by Napoli and Fiorentina, according to reports, with suggestions Carlo Ancelotti will be sacked on December 10.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Ancelotti will leave Napoli at the very least at the end of the season, possibly before that if results continue to be disappointing.

Gattuso is emerging as the prime candidate to take over, believing he has the firm hand to ensure determination within the Stadio San Paolo ranks.
