Ancelotti in PSG return?

Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti could return to Paris Saint-Germain next summer, claims one French report.

Ancelotti’s position seems to be getting less secure with each passing day, Napoli’s 2-1 defeat to Bologna last weekend the latest in a string of poor performances.

It was claimed on Tuesday evening that the 60-year-old would be dismissed after the Champions League game against Genk next week, with Gennaro Gattuso set to take over.

Reports: Napoli in Gattuso talks

Gennaro Gattuso has been contacted by Napoli and Fiorentina, according to reports, with suggestions Carlo Ancelotti will be sacked on December 10.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Ancelotti will leave Napoli at the very least at the end of the season, possibly before that if results continue to be disappointing.

Gattuso is emerging as the prime candidate to take over, believing he has the firm hand to ensure determination within the Stadio San Paolo ranks.

Fassone: 'Milan wanted Ibrahimovic'

Former Milan CEO Marco Fassone reveals they had already tried to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic, while praising Gennaro Gattuso’s performances.

His tenure was short-lived under Yonghong Li and he was axed along with director of sport Massimiliano Mirabelli after the club was essentially repossessed by Elliot Management for unpaid loans.

“We had also suggested getting Ibrahimovic, and spoke to Mino Raiola at the time, but then we opted against it,” revealed Fassone on Tuttomercatoweb Radio.

Familiar Montella pattern

History is repeating itself with Vincenzo Montella, but Kaustubh Pandey warns Fiorentina have time to stop the inevitable slide.

Fiorentina are the very definition of inconsistency. Ever since Vincenzo Montella took charge, La Viola have had an 18-game winless run followed by a six-game unbeaten streak. But last night’s defeat to Lecce extended another negative stretch to four, with Montella’s future now under more scrutiny than ever.

Fiorentina back Montella, but...

Fiorentina patron Rocco Commisso has given coach Vincenzo Montella a vote of confidence following the 1-0 home defeat to Lecce, but Cesare Prandelli with Gabriel Batistuta lie in wait.

Despite wasting a plethora of chances, the Viola succumbed to another defeat, their third in a row.

Sky Sport Italia expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Montella has been given a stay of execution by Commisso, at least for now.

Commisso: 'Fiorentina unlucky'

Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso tried to defend the players and coach Vincenzo Montella after defeat to Lecce. “We were unlucky.”

The Viola have now lost three Serie A matches in a row, as Andrea La Mantia got the only goal this evening for Lecce.

“We suffered another defeat, but this one was different, as the lads gave it their all and we were unlucky,” Commisso told reporters at the Stadio Franchi.

Fiorentina to sack Montella?

Suso: 'Giampaolo's Milan no team'

Suso admits he was “angry I didn’t see a team” when Marco Giampaolo coached Milan, whereas Stefano Pioli reminds him more of Gennaro Gattuso.

Milan decided to part with Gattuso after they finished just outside the Champions League places last season, but the appointment of Giampaolo didn’t go down as planned.

The former Sampdoria coach was axed after only seven games of the 2019-20 campaign and has since been replaced by ex-Fiorentina and Inter boss Pioli.

Napoli freeze wages and sell stars?

President Aurelio De Laurentiis is reportedly freezing Napoli salaries, aiming to dock 25 per cent, and sell star names including Kalidou Koulibaly following the ‘mutiny.’

The club has been in a civil war for several weeks, ever since the squad refused orders to go back into a training retreat following the Champions League draw with RB Salzburg on November 5.

A press silence has been imposed, so the players and coach Carlo Ancelotti have been barred from giving their side of the story.

Tonali: 'Not scared by €300m'

Tonali had always been likened to Andrea Pirlo, who also started his career at Brescia, but the 19-year-old played down the comparison, instead naming another ex-Italy midfielder.
