Leonardo-Maldini out, Campos-Jardim in?

Milan could replace Paolo Maldini and Leonardo, it’s reported, bringing in Lille director Luis Campos and Monaco Coach Leonardo Jardim.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri are not fully convinced of the work being done by their former defender and chief executive Ivan Gazidis is thinking about going in a different direction by bringing in current Lille sporting director Campos.

Maldini only returned to working with his former club this season after he retired from the game in 2009.

A salute to Daniele De Rossi

Daniele De Rossi plays his last game for Roma this weekend and Andrea Tallarita reflects on the story of one of the greatest modern midfielders.

The film of Daniele De Rossi's career as a footballer is over. You can hang around and hope for a post-credits scene in the MLS, in China, or wherever, but we all know that once his Roma shirt comes off after the game against Parma, it will be time for us to stand and leave the cinema.

'No friendship in Gattuso decision'

Paolo Maldini admits friendship will count for nothing when it comes to deciding Gennaro Gattuso’s fate as Milan Coach.

Maldini and Gattuso were Milan teammates during the 2000s, winning a Scudetto and two Champions Leagues together.

However, the legendary left-back is on the Rossoneri board that will run the rule over the Coach.

“I have to do my job and evaluate Gattuso, we’re not teammates anymore,” he told DAZN.

Game of Champions League thrones

As the season finale approaches, Football Italia’s Chief Correspondent Richard Hall considers who from Atalanta, Inter, Milan and Roma deserves Champions League football.

The history of Italy has often been linked to Northern powers and the Papal States. Often in the tussle lies a smaller yet politically-relevant state. While we're not at a time when Sforza’s Borgias vie for power, the struggle for being one of the biggest names in Europe continues. This week in Serie A, the apparent protagonists for Europe’s elite club competition have done their duty, disappointed, imploded and - in one case - fought above their station. Now, as the final week approach, the true character of each will be tested.

Gattuso: 'Milan can thank Donnarumma'

Gennaro Gattuso admits Milan must “thank Gianluigi Donnarumma for getting us out of trouble” in the 2-0 win over Frosinone.

The Rossoneri were about to go behind to the already-relegated side at San Siro, but Donnarumma saved a penalty before Krzysztof Piatek and Suso goals.

Milan to replace Leonardo?

Several sources claim Milan director Leonardo is among several figures who will be replaced this summer by CEO Ivan Gazidis.

The Rossoneri are struggling to snatch fourth place from Atalanta, with reports in the Corriere dello Sport that they could even take a plea bargain with UEFA over Financial Fair Play violations, accepting a season out of continental competition if they only qualify for the Europa League.

Milan: Gattuso stays, Leonardo goes?

Milan could end up keeping Coach Gennaro Gattuso, claims the Corriere della Sera newspaper, but replacing Leonardo next season.

The Rossoneri are still in contention for the fourth and final Champions League spot, sitting three points behind Atalanta, but with a superior head-to-head record.

Gattuso has seemingly been hanging on by a thread for months, expecting the sack even if he grabbed fourth place, and yet the Corriere della Sera paints a different picture now.

Milan must make a statement

Milan’s thirst for stability is evident and the club’s top brass must make a statement with their next hire, writes Matthew Santangelo.

Since the days of the eyebrow-raising Carlo Ancelotti parading the touchline for Milan, only Massimiliano Allegri has been able to provide some semblance of balance and stability, with the current Juventus boss having coached nearly 180 official matches for the Rossoneri spanning nearly four seasons before his sacking in January 2014. From that point forward, it has been a revolving door at the post for the seven-time European champions.

Gattuso: 'Milan are not consistent'

Gennaro Gattuso believes Milan are still surpassing expectations after beating Fiorentina, even if they “dropped too many points and aren’t consistent.”

Hakan Calhanoglu’s glancing header proved decisive for a 1-0 victory at the Stadio Franchi, which keeps them within three points of the Champions League places.
