Gattuso: 'Milan could've been better'

Gennaro Gattuso still wasn’t satisfied even after Milan won their Europa League tie 3-0 away to Ludogorets. “We could’ve played better.”

The Rossoneri have one foot in the Round of 16 after this first leg success in Bulgaria.

“I wouldn’t call it the perfect performance, as we could’ve played better, even if it’s always difficult in Europe,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

Gattuso: 'Ludogorets more experienced'

Gennaro Gattuso notes Ludogorets have more Europa League experience than Milan and can’t be underestimated, while he “hates compliments.”

The first leg of the Europa League Round of 32 kicks off in Razgrad on Thursday at 18.00 GMT.

“There is respect for Ludogorets, because in the last six years they’ve been in European competition more than Milan,” said Gattuso in his Press conference.

Kalinic still out for Milan

Milan are still without Nikola Kalinic for tomorrow’s Europa League first leg with Ludogorets.

The Croatian striker has been struggling with a thigh injury, and missed the win over Spal at the weekend.

Today the Rossoneri have released their squad list for tomorrow’s Last 32 first leg, and Kalinic is once again left out.

It has been suggested that Gennaro Gattuso will play a strong team against the Bulgarians, and the Coach has named as close to a full strength squad as he can.

Milan to pick strongest team

It’s reported Gennaro Gattuso will select the strongest possible Milan team against Ludogorets tomorrow, to secure qualification as quickly as possible.

The Rossoneri meet the Bulgarian side in the first leg of their Europa League Last 32 tie tomorrow night, and they will be taking the competition seriously.

The Diavolo’s stated aim for the season is to return to the Champions League, and while they have picked up in Serie A, winning the Europa League could be the best way of achieving that aim.

Gattuso lowest paid in Serie A

Gennaro Gattuso is reported to be the lowest-paid Coach in Serie A, as the Milan boss is on the same terms as his Primavera contract.

The former midfielder had been in charge of the youth team, but stepped up to replace Vincenzo Montella in the top job.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport reports that he’s coaching the Rossoneri first team on the same terms as the youth team, meaning he earns €120,000 per season.

That makes him the lowest-paid Coach in Serie A, with Fabio Pecchia at Verona in 19th on €250,000 per season.

‘Gattuso doing well, but…’

Silvio Berlusconi praises Gennaro Gattuso’s work at Milan, but once again laments the fact “we have only one striker”.

The former President sold the Rossoneri to Chinese businessman Yonghong Li in April last year, but still likes to have his say on the team.

“I know Rino’s generosity and commitment,” Berlusconi said on Radio Lombardia.

“Now I can also see his competence. From a disappointing start to the season now the results are coming.

Milan surge up form table

Milan and Torino would both be in Serie A’s top four based on the last six games, statistics from FootyStats reveal.

Both sides started the season poorly and dispensed with their Coaches, with the Rossoneri dismissing Vincenzo Montella and appointing Gennaro Gattuso.

Meanwhile, the Granata took the decision to replace Sinisa Mihajlovic with Walter Mazzarri and it appears the decision is paying off for both teams.

Gattuso at Milan until 2020?

Milan are considering a contract extension to keep Gennaro Gattuso as their Coach until June 2020.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Rossoneri are so pleased with the progress under their interim tactician that they’re ready to offer a new deal.

Gattuso was the Coach of their Primavera youth team when he was promoted to the main job after Vincenzo Montella’s dismissal in November.

After a stuttering start, Milan have found their form with five wins and three draws between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
