Milan consider Montella return

Milan are considering bringing back Vincenzo Montella if they sack Gennaro Gattuso, according to reports.

L’Aeroplanino was sacked by the Rossoneri last month, with youth team coach Gattuso elevated to the top job.

However, after taking just four points from four games Ringhio is reportedly in danger of being dismissed himself if results don’t improve in the next two matches.

Gattuso at risk at Milan?

It’s reported Gennaro Gattuso’s Milan job could be at risk if they don’t get good results against Inter and Fiorentina.

The midfielder took over as Rossoneri Coach after Vincenzo Montella was sacked, but he’s managed just four points in four Serie A games.

Now the Corriere dello Sport is reporting that Gattuso’s job could be at risk if the negative results and performances continue in the next two games.

Milan end ritiro

Milan have confirmed that the squad’s ritiro will end - despite yesterday’s loss to Atalanta.

The Rossoneri were placed into a punitive training camp after being beaten 3-0 by Verona, but they were still beaten at home by the Orobici yesterday.

However, despite a second loss in the past two games the club has opted to end the ritiro.

“Take the criticism, work with your head down, stay united and solid,” the Diavolo commented on their official website.

Mirabelli: 'Blame me for Milan woes'

Milan director of sport Massimiliano Mirabelli asked fans and critics to blame him rather than the players after another setback.

Despite spending the week in a training retreat for intensive training sessions, the Rossoneri were again swept aside 2-0 by Atalanta at San Siro.

“We already apologised to the fans last week (after the 3-0 defeat to Hellas Verona) and we do so again,” Mirabelli told Sky Sport Italia.

Gattuso: 'I'm not Milan problem'

Gennaro Gattuso said he would resign “if I thought I was the problem, but I am the least of Milan’s problems. We are not a team.”

The Rossoneri are in crisis and spending the last few days in a training retreat made little difference, as they lost 2-0 at home to Atalanta.

Atalanta add to Milan misery

Milan’s training retreat had little effect, as they were well-beaten 2-0 at San Siro by Atalanta, including ex-Rossoneri man Bryan Cristante.

Gennaro Gattuso goes into the Christmas break with the crisis intensifying, as this was a head-to-head for position just behind the European places.

Cristante pounced on a Gianluigi Donnarumma spill to score against his former club and in the second half Josip Ilicic finished off a smart counter-attack created by Papu Gomez and Leonardo Spinazzola.

Gattuso names Milan squad

Gennaro Gattuso has named his Milan squad to face Atalanta tomorrow, with Alessio Romagnoli and Suso both suspended.

The Rossoneri are looking to bounce back after a 3-0 defeat to Verona last weekend, and face an Orobici side who will challenge them for a Europa League position.

Suso was a sent off at the Bentegodi and Alessio Romagnoli picked up a fifth yellow card of the season, so both are suspended for this one.
