Coppa: Milan crush Hellas Verona

Milan will play a special Coppa Italia Quarter-Final derby against Inter on December 27 after disposing of Hellas Verona 3-0.

The Rossoneri reached the Final last season and finally won their first game under Gennaro Gattuso after he shelved the three-man defence in favour of a 4-3-3 formation. Manuel Locatelli was suspended and Nikola Kalinic rested for Andre Silva and Patrick Cutrone. Hellas started teenage forwards Moise Kean and Seung-Woo Lee, but curiously these two teams will meet again on Sunday in Serie A at the Bentegodi.

Milan name squad for Verona

Gennaro Gattuso has named a strong squad for Milan’s Coppa Italia tie with Verona tomorrow night.

There’s a potential Derby della Madonnina Quarter-Final, as the two Milan sides will meet if Inter beat Pordenone this evening and the Rossoneri overcome the Butei.

Gattuso has named a full squad for the game, with the likes of Suso, Nikola Kalinic, Leonardo Bonucci and Gianluigi Donnarumma all included.

Backup goalkeeper Marco Storari misses out through injury, so 18-year-old Alessandro Guarnone is in the squad.

Gattuso: Back four more guarantees

Gennaro Gattuso has hinted that Milan will stick with a four-man defence going forward as “it gives us more guarantees.”

Milan’s return to a 4-3-3 formation was put forward as a major factor in their 2-1 win against Bologna over the weekend, and Gattuso believes his side are feeling more confident about their Coppa Italia tie with Verona as a result.

“There’s so much to do: we won an important game, but now we must only think about tomorrow’s match,” the Coach told Milan TV.

Gattuso: No problems with Gigio

Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso has insisted that “there’s no problem with Gianluigi Donnarumma”, despite speculation about his future resurfacing.

Donnarumma’s agent Mina Raiola had reportedly asked Milan to annul the contract renewal that the goalkeeper signed over the summer, but Gattuso made it clear the teenager was still happy at San Siro.

Suso: 'Milan better with 4-3-3'

Suso called new Milan Coach Gennaro Gattuso “a great motivator” and hopes “we don’t change tactics again, as 4-3-3 is the right system.”

The Rossoneri ended their negative streak with a 2-1 victory over Bologna last night.

“We knew that it was a very important game, as this had been a negative period and three points were sorely-needed,” Suso told Mediaset Premium ahead of this evening’s Christmas dinner.

It was the first victory since Vincenzo Montella was sacked to make way for Gattuso.

Rodriguez 'better in four-man defence'

Milan have found “the right cure” for their ills by moving to a four-man defence, said Ricardo Rodriguez’s agent.

The Rossoneri scraped their 3-5-2 formation in favour of a 4-3-3 in last night’s 2-1 victory over Bologna.

“I think four at the back represents the right cure for their tactical issues and Rodriguez is able to express himself better in that system too,” Gianluca Di Domenico told Radio CRC.

Meanwhile, Gennaro Gattuso’s men have been paired with Ludogorets in the Europa League Round of 32 draw.

‘Milan signed too many players’

Marco Fassone admits “it’s possible” Milan signed too many players in the summer, and that fourth place will prove “difficult”.

The Rossoneri spent over €200m in the summer transfer window after the takeover by Yonghong Li, but they’ve started the season poorly and are already 11 points off a Champions League place, having played a game more than Roma.

“The concern about the table is clear,” Fassone admitted on Radio Uno.

Gattuso: 'Bare-chested under the snow!'

Gennaro Gattuso admits he was so fired up during Milan’s 2-1 win over Bologna that “I could’ve stood under the snow bare-chested.”

The Coach got his first victory for the club thanks to a Jack Bonaventura brace at San Siro, which also ended the Rossoneri’s four-match dry run on home turf.

“Bologna had a few chances to equalise, we certainly need to improve our defending, as there’s clearly a long way to go,” Rino told Mediaset Premium.

Bonaventura: 'New Milan beginning'

Jack Bonaventura hopes the 2-1 victory over Bologna can be “a new beginning for Milan” and their Coach Gennaro Gattuso.

“What mattered today was getting the victory, as we were coming off a period of intensive work without the results to show for it,” the midfielder told Mediaset Premium.

He scored both goals around a temporary Simone Verdi equaliser under the snow at San Siro.
