Van Basten slams 'dishonest Sacchi'

Milan legend Marco van Basten thought he would “last forever”, revealed his poor impression of Arrigo Sacchi and how Zlatan Ibrahimovic “provoked” him.

The Dutch 55-year-old is registered with 90 goals in 147 Serie A matches and picked up the Capocannoniere title three times during his stint in Milan, where he won the Scudetto three times and helped them to the European Cup twice.

Klopp: 'I won't come to Italy'

Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp has revealed that Milan legend Arrigo Sacchi has inspired his work but insisted he will have to learn Italian before considering a move to Serie A.

The German tactician won the Champions League with the Reds last season and this year they are currently 25 points above Manchester City at second, on their way to end a 30-year wait for the Premier League title.

Klopp would not have a lack of possible suitors should he decide to call it a day on Merseyside, but he declines the possibility of a move to Italy, at least for now.

Sacchi: 'More open Scudetto race'

Arrigo Sacchi expects “a more uncertain and balanced title race” this season, with Juventus having to fight off Inter and “surprise package Lazio.”

The Scudetto race is surprisingly open as we approach the midway stage, as Juve and Inter are joint leaders on 42 points, followed by Lazio (who have a game in hand) on 36.

Roma aren’t too far behind on 35, then Atalanta are on 31, but have so far been distracted by the Champions League.

Sacchi: 'Napoli wrong choice for Ancelotti'

Arrigo Sacchi believes Carlo Ancelotti, now in talks with Everton after his dismissal, made a mistake in joining Napoli. “I would’ve told him not to go there.”

Ancelotti became Napoli coach in June 2018 after three years of Maurizio Sarri at the helm, but only lasted 18 months, and was sacked last week after guiding the Partenopei to the last 16 of the Champions League.

Legendary Milan coach believes Ancelotti made the wrong choice in joining the Southern Italian club.

“Juve have everything. You can’t think of taking anything away from them, otherwise you concede more than against other teams," said the coach in his press conference.

Roberto Baggio looked back over his career, through injury nightmares, the Fiorentina riots, Bologna, Brescia and why 2002 hurt even more than the 1994 World Cup.

“When I was a kid, we used to play with a tennis ball and smash so many windows… What today’s kids are missing now is the joy of playing football anywhere, even in the street.

Sacchi: 'Giampaolo better bet than me'

Arrigo Sacchi has urged Milan to keep faith with under-fire Coach Marco Giampaolo. “He’s certainly a more reliable bet than I was in 1987.”

Rossoneri director and playing legend Paolo Maldini compared Giampaolo’s tactical adjustments to the early difficulties felt by Sacchi before going on to form one of the best teams in history.

Now the man himself is also warning there are parallels and the club mustn’t be hasty in pulling the plug.
