Sacchi: 'Berlusconi gave calcio Renaissance'

Former Milan Coach Arrigo Sacchi praises Silvio Berlusconi for giving calcio its 'Renaissance', whilst advising the new Chinese owners.

The 70-year-old led the Rossoneri from 1987 to 1991, modernising their tactical vision and helping establish their philosophy centred on beautiful football.

“I truly, truly struggle to think of Milan without Berlusconi and [Adriano] Galliani,” Sacchi told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “Together they did something that will remain in the history of Italian and global football.

Arrigo Sacchi felt Italy “could not have lost in a better way” to Germany on penalties at the Euro 2016 quarter-finals.

No Azzurri for Lippi?

A conflict of interests has emerged that could keep Marcello Lippi away from a job as technical director for the Azzurri.

The former 2006 Coach was expected to be an integral part of Italy's new management, which will likely start after Euro 2016 with Giampiero Ventura's team.

However, the Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Lippi's son Davide, who works as a football agent, may be the cause of a critical conflict of interests.

Sacchi: ‘Verratti like Picasso’

Former Italy CT Arrigo Sacchi says PSG’s Marco Verratti ‘could become like Picasso’ and has ‘perfected the talent God gave him’.

The ex-Milan coach oversaw Verratti’s development while he was involved in the Italy youth setup and praised the player he has become.

“He’s a talent,” Sacchi told L’Equipe.

“I know him well because I was responsible for the Italy youth team and it seems to me that the PSG owner saw him during a France-Italy game in Cannes in 2012.
