Sarri: 'No football without fun'

Maurizio Sarri reveals his approach to football was partly influenced by playing at semi-professional level. “I cannot see a reason for football without fun.”

The former Napoli Coach, now at Chelsea, puts entertainment above all else both for the fans and his players.

“I used to love the training. I loved being in a group and part of a team. I had a real taste for working hard and sweating. The match was more like suffering! Because of the type of football at the time. A struggle,” Sarri told the official Chelsea website.

Arrigo Sacchi, Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola discussed the philosophy of football and name-checked Roberto De Zerbi’s Sassuolo as an example to follow.

The three world famous tacticians sat down together on stage in Trento as part of the Festival dello Sport.

“I’d hope that whoever plays the best football wins, and they do have a better chance of winning, but that isn’t always the case,” said Manchester City boss Guardiola.

Maldini: 'Greatest and worst moments'

Gigi Di Biagio “doesn’t owe Arrigo Sacchi a response” after bitter criticism of the Under-21 Italy side, who face Albania tomorrow.

The Azzurrini were crushed 3-0 by Slovakia in a friendly last week, their heaviest loss in the Di Biagio era, and legendary ex-Milan and Italy boss Sacchi complained their “attitude was shameful. They were presumptuous and arrogant.”

Mancini: 'Sacchi harsh on Balo'

Roberto Mancini said Arrigo Sacchi was “too harsh” on Mario Balotelli, but hinted Federico Bernardeschi “probably won’t” start in Portugal.

The Nations League continues after a 1-1 draw with Poland, as the Azzurri visit Portugal on Monday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

Mancini spoke to Rai Sport tonight and was asked about the comments Sacchi made about Balotelli and the need for “intelligence” in players.

Mino Raiola hit back at Arrigo Sacchi’s criticism of Mario Balotelli. “Why listen to someone who is taking the credit for a Milan side that would’ve won without a Coach? He’s pitiful.”

The row erupted after Italy’s 1-1 draw with Poland in the Nations League, which saw Balotelli jeered off the field after a sluggish performance.
