Ancelotti's Azzurri destiny

Carlo Ancelotti is destined to be the Italy Coach, writes Richard Hall, but when is the right time for him and the Nazionale?

Any talk of Carlo Ancelotti coaching the Azzurri should begin with the parties agreeing on one simple thing. It is a matter of when, not if.

Joachim Low and Gareth Southgate had nowhere near the experience of the aforementioned Coach, whilst Didier Deschamps has been nowhere near as successful. There is no doubt that his CV, boasting three Champions Leagues and four league titles in four countries, is enough elevate him to that level. The questions should be instead: would he want it, when and, would he still be relevant?

Sacchi: 'I told Milan to hire Sarri'

Arrigo Sacchi reveals he advised Milan to hire Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri and doesn’t understand their summer spending spree.

Sarri, currently top of the table with the Partenopei after winning all seven Serie A games this season, was picked up from Empoli last year.

“I spoke to (then CEO Adriano) Galliani and then with (then President Silvio) Berlusconi, telling them that if they hired Sarri, they would prove after 25 years to be ahead of the curve, just like they were when they hired me,” Sacchi told GR Parlamento radio.

Sacchi: ‘Weep for Italy in Europe’

Arrigo Sacchi laments “we just have to weep” after Italian sides picked up just one point between them in the Champions League.

Juventus were thrashed 3-0 by Barcelona at Camp Nou on Tuesday, while Napoli were beaten 2-1 in Ukraine by Shakhtar Donetsk last night.

That means that Roma’s point against Atletico Madrid is the only one picked up by Serie A sides in the first match day of the Champions League.

Sacchi: ‘Not enough Italians’

Former Italy CT Arrigo Sacchi assesses the current national side, warning there aren’t enough Italians in Serie A.

The legendary tactician took the Azzurri to the 1994 World Cup final, and spoke about the state of the national team in his interview with Corriere della Sera.

Arrigo Sacchi believes Juventus will win the Scudetto again, as while he prefers Napoli they’re “condemned to perfection”.

“Juventus will win the Scudetto again, because they have the advantage of having a superior character,” Sacchi predicted in an interview with Corriere della Sera.
