Sportiello: '50-50 against Valencia'

Marco Sportiello has claimed Atalanta have “a chance” of overcoming Valencia and advance to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The Nerazzurri are preparing to welcome Los Che later this month and back-up goalkeeper Sportiello has admitted the draw could have been worse for the Bergamaschi.

“I think we have a chance, it’s better to face Valencia than Barcelona or Bayern Munich,” he told Bergamo TV. “We still play against a team with a lot of experience, but the Champions League is strange.”

Milan: Paqueta's season over

Lucas Paqueta’s season is over after the Milan midfielder was given a three-match ban for his red card against Bologna.

Paqueta had been booked for reacting badly to a foul during Milan’s 2-1 win on Monday, but he was then shown a straight red card for tapping the arm of referee Marco Di Bello.

The suspension means the Brazilian will miss the Rossoneri’s remaining Serie A fixtures against Fiorentina, Frosinone and SPAL.

Official: Frosinone sign Sportiello

Serie A new boys Frosinone have officially signed Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello on loan with an option to buy.

It marks a new chapter in Sportiello’s career after 18 months at Fiorentina, who opted against keeping the 26-year-old permanently.

His path to the first team at Atalanta was also blocked by Albania international Etrit Berisha.

Sportiello is Frosinone’s sixth summer signing after the likes of Slovenian centre-back Luka Krajnc and former Benevento midfielder Raman Chibsah.

Frosinone are busy on the market after their promotion, close to Federico Barba, Lorenzo Crisetig, Marco Sportiello, Rai Vloet and Jacopo Sala.

The Canarini secured promotion thanks to a very controversial and ill-tempered Serie B play-off final against Palermo.

Now that they are certain of making the step up along with Empoli and Parma, they are active to reinforce the squad.

Multiple sources state they have a deal for Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello, who spent last season on loan at Fiorentina.

‘Sportiello going to Frosinone’

Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello’s agent confirms “we’re exchanging the documents” with Frosinone.

The 26-year-old spent 18 months on loan at Fiorentina, but they decided not to take up their option to buy.

The goalkeeper is also surplus to requirements in Bergamo, so he’ll join newly-promoted Frosinone, probably on another loan with an option or obligation to buy.

“We’re exchanging the documents now,” Giuseppe Riso confirmed to TuttoFrosinone.
