Samp confirm Pioli interest

Sampdoria Vice-President Antonio Romei has confirmed that Stefano Pioli could replace Marco Giampaolo as the club’s Coach.

Giampaolo is the runaway favourite to take over at Milan, with Paolo Maldini reported to have made the 51-year-old his first choice to replace Gennaro Gattuso.

“President Massimo Ferrero and Giampaolo met, and they’ve taken some time to reflect before making a decision,” Romei told Sky Sport Italia.

Gasperini-Samp row over 'slap'

There were reports of the tactician striking Sampdoria secretary general Massimo Ienca as he stormed off down the tunnel following his sending off for dissent in the 2-1 victory at Marassi.

Samp deny Bereszynski reports

Sampdoria have dismissed reports Bartosz Bereszynski will be sold to Inter with Eder going the other way.

The suggestion had been made by La Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Secolo XIX.

“I don’t think Bereszynski can transfer to Inter during this transfer session,” director Antonio Romei told FCInter1908.it.

“As for Eder, there is no chance of him returning to Sampdoria.”

Samp: ‘Quagliarella is not for sale’

Sampdoria’s lawyer Antonio Romei warns Napoli that Fabio Quagliarella is not for sale - “he’s fundamental for us and he’s happy in Genoa”.

The striker was born in Castellammare di Stabia, southeast of Naples, and achieved his dream of signing for Napoli in 2009.

However, just 18 months later he moved on to Juventus, which led to accusations of betrayal from the Neapolitan faithful.

Sampdoria: ‘No Schick talks’

Sampdoria lawyer Antonio Romei insists “we didn’t talk” about Patrik Schick after meeting Inter today.

The Czech striker had a deal to join Juventus, but it was cancelled after problems emerged during his medical.

The Nerazzurri had been interested in bringing him to San Siro before Juve swooped in, and it was reported today that their interest had been reignited.

Officials from the Beneamata met with Samp today, but the Blucerchiati’s lawyer, right-hand man of President Massimo Ferrero says Schick wasn’t discussed.

Giampaolo: 'Sure Muriel will leave'

Marco Giampaolo is “almost certain Luis Muriel will leave” Sampdoria this summer, but President Massimo Ferrero isn’t so sure.

The Colombia international striker’s goal secured a 1-0 victory over local rivals Genoa in tonight’s Derby della Lanterna.

“I am almost certain Muriel will leave us next season,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

Sampdoria: 'Cassano exit for the best'

Antonio Cassano will terminate his Sampdoria contract this week. “It’s a bitter epilogue, but the right thing for both parties.”

The striker has been frozen out all season after refusing a transfer, training with the Primavera youth team and even had his picture removed from the club website.

His contract is due to expire on June 30, but will be terminated on Thursday by mutual consent.

Samp: 'Ban Reina for simulation'

Sampdoria demand Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina receive a ban “for simulation using video evidence, just as they did for Kevin Strootman.”

The shot-stopper claimed his heel was clipped by Matias Silvestre as he was trying to clear the ball upfield, which was the defender’s second bookable offence.

Samp had been 1-0 up at the time, but eventually lost 2-1 at the Stadio San Paolo last night.

‘Stop Sampdoria scaremongering’

Sampdoria’s lawyer Antonio Romei calls rumours about their finances “scaremongering”.

It has been reported by L’Espresso that the struggles of insurance company Gable could be disastrous for the Blucerchiati, as they guarantee the club’s debts.

The company announced plans to delist from the London stock exchange, although it has since walked that back slightly.
