Sevilla players break lockdown rules

There is controversy in Spain after four Sevilla players – including former Serie A men Franco Vazquez, Lucas Ocampos and Ever Banega – broke lockdown rules.

Sevilla are due to face Roma in the Europa League Round of 16.

They were discovered when Banega’s wife posted an image on social media showing that there were 12 people gathered together with friends and family around a table in what appeared to be a pool party.

The Spanish Government rules ban gatherings of over 10 people during the coronavirus pandemic.

Boga eyed as Callejon heir

Napoli have made Sassuolo winger Jeremie Boga their number one choice to replace Jose Callejon, according to La Repubblica.

Callejon has been at the Stadio San Paolo for seven years, but his contract is due to expire at the end of this season and he does not seem any closer to agreeing an extension.

He had already begun to fall down the pecking order under coach Gennaro Gattuso, who is looking for alternatives.

Roma and Atalanta in Kokcu race

Roma, Atalanta, Chelsea, Arsenal and Sevilla are in the running for Feyenoord creative midfielder Orkun Kokcu.

The 19-year-old talent was born and raised in Holland, but currently plays for Turkey at Under-21 level.

According to Estadio Deportivo, there is going to be a bidding war this summer after his three goals and six assists in 35 competitive games for Feyenoord.

Roma and Atalanta are the representatives from Serie A, but they face stiff competition from Chelsea, Arsenal, Sevilla and Real Betis.

Milan: Just €1.5m to buy Kjaer?

Milan can keep defender Simon Kjaer if they pay Sevilla just €1.5m, reports Tuttosport this morning.

Kjaer moved to Milan in January on loan for the rest of the season with an option to buy, having struggled for game time at Atalanta.

The 31-year-old has slotted straight in at San Siro, making seven appearances under Stefano Pioli before the coronavirus lockdown.

Now, Tuttosport is claiming the Rossoneri’s option to buy is set at just €1.5m, with the Dane about to enter the final 12 months of his Sevilla contract.

André Silva: 'Zlatan would have helped me'

Milan loanee André Silva has found his feet at Eintracht Frankfurt but admitted it would have been nice to play next to Zlatan Ibrahimovic at San Siro.

The 24-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan at Sevilla and now in the Bundesliga, where he has contributed five goals and three assists in his 16 league matches.

The former FC Porto forward arrived at Milan in July 2017, but struggled to convince at the Rossoneri and claims he has been helped by the experiences on loan in Spain and Germany.

Vazquez: 'Always liked Milan'

Sevilla midfielder Franco Vazquez has confessed Milan ‘always interested me’ and that ‘I dreamed of playing for them growing up’.

Vazquez made his name in Italy with Palermo and even played twice for the Azzurri, before joining Sevilla in the summer of 2016 and switching his international allegiance to Argentina.

Sevilla looking at De Paul

Sevilla are the latest club to be linked with Udinese and Argentina creative midfielder Rodrigo De Paul.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Sevilla see him as an ideal heir to Ever Banega.

De Paul turns 26 later this month and has dual Italian and Argentinean citizenship.

Joining Udinese for just €3m in 2016, he scored five goals with three assists in 24 competitive games for Udinese so far this season.

He has 17 senior caps for Argentina and has also been linked with Roma, Milan, Fiorentina, Inter and Lazio.

Report: Musacchio wanted in Spain

Valencia reportedly eye a possible deal for Milan defender Mateo Musacchio, who lost his place in the starting line-up at San Siro after the arrival of Simon Kjaer.

Suso: 'I almost joined Inter'

Suso is happy at Sevilla, but reveals he had been very close to leaving Milan for rivals Inter and does not hold back on the coaches he worked with at San Siro.

The winger moved to Sevilla in a January loan deal with €20m option to buy, which becomes an obligation if they hit certain targets.

“You never know in football, but I am very happy to be here and think great players ought to be in the Champions League,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

Serie A target Vazquez will 'talk to Sevilla'

Lazio, Fiorentina, Atalanta and Torino transfer target Franco Vazquez is wanted by several clubs, confirmed his agent. “We need to talk to Sevilla.”

The 31-year-old is no stranger to Serie A, having played for Palermo and made two friendly appearances for Italy, before switching his allegiance back to Argentina in 2018.

He has now been heavily linked with a return to the Peninsula, with Lazio, Atalanta, Fiorentina and Torino ready to swoop.
