Italy have qualified for the European Under-19 Championship, where they are the holders, and the European Under-17 tournament today.

The Azzurrini had already entered the Under-19 event in 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023 and now 2024, so qualified for the fifth time in a row.

They secured their spot with a 5-0 victory over Georgia, which could’ve been even wider had Giulio Misitano not missed a late penalty.

Simone Pafundi was again crucial, opening the scoring from the spot within four minutes.

Marco Palestra, Kevin Zeroli, Diego Sia and Luca Di Maggio completed the rout.

That result put Italy top of the group with a 100 per cent record of three wins out of three, scoring 10 goals and conceding two.

Italy will defend their Under-19 European title in the tournament in Northern Ireland in July.

The Under-17 side also booked their place in the European Championship, but this was a little more difficult.

They were trailing 2-1 at home to Finland until Milan striker Francesco Camarda converted a penalty at the 91st minute.

The opener had been an own goal from Ilari Kangansiemi.

It lets the Azzurrini top the group on seven points, ahead of Belgium and Finland on four, with the Netherlands on one.

That competition will be held in Cyprus from May 20 to June 5.
