Zoff: ‘Difficult for goalkeepers’

Dino Zoff says “it’s difficult for goalkeepers to get to the end” in the Ballon d’Or, after Gigi Buffon was snubbed.

Buffon was not included on the 59-name shortlist for the award when it was leaked this morning, a decision which saw outcry from the footballing world.

“Certainly the exclusion of Gigi should be discussed,” Zoff, himself a legendary goalkeeper, told Calciomercato.

Zoff: ‘Napoli-Juventus a delicate match’

Dino Zoff calls tomorrow’s Napoli-Juventus came “delicate” with both sides having poor starts.

The former goalkeeper played for both clubs, winning six Scudetti with the Bianconeri, as well as lifting the 1982 World Cup with Italy.

Dino Zoff said Juventus need Juan Cuadrado more than Julian Draxler this season.

The former goalkeeper and World Cup winner discussed the interest in both Chelsea winger Cuadrado and Schalke creative midfielder Draxler.

“Someone will arrive, seeing as the Juve directors are determined to cover this gap behind the strikers,” Zoff told Itasportpress.

“I like Draxler, because he is quick and if he can find regular fitness then is truly very talented.

‘Pirlo a genius, Pogba complete’

Andrea Pirlo is ‘a genius’ and Paul Pogba ‘a complete player’ according to Dino Zoff, but he fears Arturo Vidal will be missed.

The former World Cup winner gave his assessment of the Juventus squad, as well as discussing young goalkeeper Simone Scuffet’s loan to Como from Udinese.

"Pirlo is a genius, [Carlos] Tevez has decided a lot of games, but Vidal has those characteristics that I’ve always appreciated in a midfielder,” Zoff said to Tuttosport.

Zoff: ‘Juve, ignore past success’

Former Juventus and Italy goalkeeper Dino Zoff warns the Bianconeri that they must ‘ignore past successes’ to win a fifth straight Scudetto.

In an interview with Tuttosport, the 73-year-old explained that he still views the Old Lady as favourites, but says they must be mentally strong.

'Azzurri? Spain no longer a threat'

Former euro and world champion Dino Zoff says 'Spain are not what they used to be' and believes the Azzurri have a good group.

Italy were drawn in what many would call a challenging World Cup qualifier group as they were partnered with holding Euro champions and 2010 world champions Spain, but the legendary goalkeeper sees reasons for optimism.

Zoff: ‘Casillas better than Buffon’

Former Juventus and Italy goalkeeper Dino Zoff says Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas is superior to Gigi Buffon.

The two shot-stoppers will face off tonight in the Champions League semi-final, and Zoff believes that the latter has the edge.

“Between Buffon and Casillas, I choose the Spaniard,” the World Cup winner told Radio 4G ahead of the Bianconeri’s clash with Madrid.

“In my opinion [Bayern Munich’s Manuel] Neuer is the best, but the Spanish goalkeeper is better than Gigi.”
