Roma look at Leeds United director

Roma are seeking a new director of sport following the club takeover, and the latest candidate is Victor Orta of Leeds United.

President James Pallotta signed the takeover agreement with Texan billionaire Dan Friedkin this week, beginning a new era at the Stadio Olimpico.

Director of sport Gianluca Petrachi was fired a couple of months ago, so the first order of business is to find a suitable replacement.

New Roma: Petrachi, Totti or Rangnick?

Roma begin the new Dan Friedkin era and there are several options for director of sport, including Gianluca Petrachi, Ralf Rangnick and Francesco Totti.

The Friedkin Group announced it had agreed a €591m takeover deal to purchase the club from James Pallotta.

Once the closing is completed, reportedly by August 31, then the new owners can begin engaging on the transfer market.

Roma currently do not have a director of sport, as Petrachi was fired following a furious row with President Pallotta.

Roma release Petrachi

Gianluca Petrachi has been formally released from his role as Roma sporting director, less than a month after he was suspended.

Petrachi was suspended on June 18, amidst talk of a complete breakdown in his relationship with Roma President James Pallotta.

Now, Il Tempo reports the process to release him has been completed after the club sent him a letter of dismissal.

Petrachi separation imminent

Roma are reportedly close to separating permanently with suspended sporting director Gianluca Petrachi.

The club and their sporting director have gone down different paths in recent weeks, culminating with an argument between the protagonist and patron James Pallotta, eventually leading to the former’s suspension.

La Repubblica claims the club is only formalities away from announcing their decision to separate from the former Torino man, who will be on his way after only one season at the Olimpico.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Roma have ‘suspended’ director of sport Gianluca Petrachi, a step towards his dismissal, as Morgan De Sanctis and Franco Baldini take control.

Over the last few days, there had been growing tension between Petrachi and President Jim Pallotta, with reports of a furious telephone argument and threats of legal action.
