Report: Roma 'suspend' director Petrachi

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Roma have ‘suspended’ director of sport Gianluca Petrachi, a step towards his dismissal, as Morgan De Sanctis and Franco Baldini take control.

Over the last few days, there had been growing tension between Petrachi and President Jim Pallotta, with reports of a furious telephone argument and threats of legal action.

Petrachi was poached from Torino just under a year ago, but the situation never ran particularly smoothly.

There are reports the situation at Roma is so bad that President James Pallotta could sack director of sport Gianluca Petrachi with termination for cause.

The rapport between them has become increasingly tense and multiple sources reported last night that it exploded with a blazing row over the telephone.

Roma are in turmoil with multiple reports director Gianluca Petrachi is ready to walk out following a bitter row with President Jim Pallotta, possibly intensified by Pedro.

Petrachi-Pallotta row splits Roma?

There are reports of a furious row between Roma President Jim Pallotta and director of sport Gianluca Petrachi, which could see the latter leave under a year after taking over.

Multiple sources this evening, including Sky Sport Italia, Siamo La Roma, TMW and Roma24, all have the same details about the bitter split behind the scenes.

It began when President Pallotta gave an interview thanking everyone in the club hierarchy except Petrachi.

Petrachi expects 'creative transfer market'

Roma sporting director Gianluca Petrachi expects a ‘creative transfer market’ with many exchange deals and feels able to convince both Lorenzo Pellegrini and Nicolò Zaniolo to stay at the Olimpico.

The Giallorossi’s market man spoke to Sky Sport Italia about the club’s plans this summer and remained confident that they will be able to keep Manchester United defender Chris Smalling and Arsenal attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who have spent the current season on loan in Rome.

Petrachi: 'Roma not focused enough'

Gianluca Petrachi admits Roma’s players are not training hard enough and likens the transfer market to a chessboard. “No-one’s making the first move.”

Petrachi has been linked with an exit in recent weeks, despite only replacing Monchi as sporting director last summer, and he issued a warning to Roma’s squad ahead of Serie A resuming on June 20.

“Especially in the first few days back, I saw the players train with real desire, ruthlessness and focus,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
