Official: Torino appoint director Bava

Torino have officially appointed Massimo Bava as their new sporting director, taking the place of Gianluca Petrachi, who joined Roma.

A statement on Torino’s official website explains that Bava, who was the “youth sector manager, will take on the role of sporting director at the club.”

The 56-year-old was born in Turin and after a career in amateur football as a player became a Coach 20 years ago and won promotion in the lower leagues with the likes of Volpiano, Canavese, and Cuneo.

Official: Roma hire Petrachi

Roma have officially hired former Torino man Gianluca Petrachi as their new sporting director.

Petrachi’s appointment comes as no surprise, given he has been linked with the role for months and has already begun working for Roma.

The only hold-up had been his release from Torino, but that is now resolved.

“I’m happy to welcome Gianluca to our team,” CEO Guido Fienga told the club’s official website.

Roma: Diawara in, El Sha out?

Roma are close to swapping Kostas Manolas for Napoli’s Amadou Diawara, while a Chinese club have offered Stephan El Shaarawy a €12m salary.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio’s website, the exchange deal could be finalised by the end of this week.

Elaborating on the report, RomaPress writes Roma will be able to record the sale of Manolas at €36m – the value of his release clause.

Although that would go towards raising necessary capital, it remains to be seen how much Diawara will set them back.

Roma teen key to Petrachi

Roma have reportedly offered 18-year-old Jean Freddi Greco to free sporting director Gianluca Petrachi from his Torino contract.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi have reached an agreement with Toro to release Petrachi from his contract, and he can take up his new role with the Capital club sometime next week.

The 50-year-old has been to all intents and purposes filling the role vacated by Monchi for several weeks now, but the paperwork had become deadlocked.

Roma 'swap' Cangiano for Petrachi

Roma could end up handing youth team player Gianmarco Cangiano as compensation for poaching Torino director of sport Gianluca Petrachi.

The situation is somewhat awkward, because Petrachi has already started working for Roma, albeit in an unofficial capacity.

He was spotted at the airport returning from a meeting in Madrid with Shakhtar Donetsk Coach Paulo Fonseca’s representatives.

His contract with Torino runs to June 2020 and he had hoped a simple letter of resignation would suffice, but the Granata want some form of compensation.
