Report: El Shaarawy renewal still on

Stephan El Shaarawy’s new contract is expected to go through once Roma appoint a new sporting director.

Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Wednesday morning that El Shaarawy had rejected Roma’s offer of a renewal.

However, Gianluca Di Marzio’s website assures there is a will on both sides for an agreement to be reached.

Di Marzio adds talks should conclude once the Giallorossi appoint Gianluca Petrachi as their new sporting director.

Mazzarri eyes Bigon reunion

Torino Coach Walter Mazzarri could reunite with current Bologna sporting director Riccardo Bigon, who he previously worked with at Reggina and Napoli.

According to website calcionews24.com, the pair could find themselves working together once again, if sporting director Gianluca Petrachi leaves the Granata in the summer.

Petrachi has been heavily linked with a move away from Torino, with Roma leading the chase for the 50-year-old former Nottingham Forest midfielder.

'English football should have own Brexit!'

Torino President Urbano Cairo believes English football ‘should aim for its own Brexit’ and reiterates Gianluca Petrachi is not moving to Roma.

The UK is currently in the process of leaving the European Union, and Cairo feels Premier League clubs have no incentive to give up their ‘own excellent product’ after a season that has seen them dominate the Champions League and Europa League.

“English football should aim for its own Brexit,” he told reporters.

Petrachi set for Roma

Several reports agree Torino sporting director Gianluca Petrachi will move to Roma this summer.

Il Tempo, La Stampa and La Repubblica all claim Roma have reached an agreement with Torino President Urbano Cairo to release Petrachi.

The 50-year-old [pictured, cenrtre] has been the favourite to replace Monchi at the Olimpico for some time, and he should commence his new role on July 1.

Calciomercato.com adds he has already begun formal work in the transfer market for his new club.

Toro expect Petrachi stay

Torino President Urbano Cairo is confident Gianluca Petrachi will stay put as he ‘doesn’t think’ the sporting director will leave for Roma.

Petrachi has emerged as the runaway favourite to fill Roma’s sporting-director vacancy this summer, but Cairo believes the 50-year-old will show loyalty to Toro.

“I’m a bit surprised by all the talk and articles about Petrachi,” he told Radio Uno.

Toro warn Roma over Petrachi

Torino President Urbano Cairo ‘hopes’ Gianluca Petrachi is not talking to Roma and warns that would be ‘a conflict of interest’.

Petrachi has emerged as the leading candidate to become Roma’s sporting director this summer, and Cairo admitted he was loath to lose the 50-year-old.

“I hope Petrachi isn’t talking to Roma, it wouldn’t be right,” he told MC Sport.

“That alone would be bad because the Giallorossi are is fighting with us for a place in Europe. It would be really unpleasant.

Toro rule out Ventura return

Torino President Urbano Cairo has ruled out the possibility of bringing back Giampiero Ventura as a technical director.

A report in Tuesday’s edition of Tuttosport linked Ventura with the role, three years after ending his tenure as Torino Coach to become Italy CT.

However, Cairo told Gazzetta dello Sport: “I don’t know where this news has come from, but it’s unsubstantiated.

Roma ask Torino for Petrachi

Roma are increasingly focusing their attention on current Torino director of sport Gianluca Petrachi as a replacement for Monchi.

After the Spaniard walked away for a return to his old club Sevilla, the race was on to find a new director of sport.

Contenders include Lille chief Luis Campos, but the new hot favourite is Petrachi.

According to La Stampa newspaper, there is a basic agreement between Petrachi and Roma for their reunion this summer.

Roma in for Toro's Petrachi?

Torino’s Gianluca Petrachi is reportedly Roma’s first choice to become their new sporting director.

According to Il Messaggero, Petrachi has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Monchi after Cristiano Giuntoli extended his contract with Napoli, while Piero Ausilio is expected to commit to inter.

The 50-year-old has been Toro’s sporting director since January 2010, establishing the Granata as a Serie A side in that time, while also discovering the likes of Ciro Immobile, Matteo Darmian and Andrea Belotti.
