Immobile: 'Not a simple game'

Lazio striker Ciro Immobile insists the 4-2 victory over Lecce was hard-earned, as the newly-promoted side "made it difficult."

Immobile was on the scoresheet for the seventh consecutive game in the league, and is leading the Capocannoniere charts with 14 goals in only 12 games.

Belotti: 'Toro behind Mazzarri'

Andrea Belotti insists the Torino players are firmly behind coach Walter Mazzarri as “we showed this team are still alive” against Juventus.

Another derby defeat to the Old Lady at the Grande Torino has put Mazzarri under pressure and the Granata are still without a win in Serie A since the 2-1 victory over Milan in late September.

Despite that, Belotti reassured his boss he still had the full support of the club’s dressing room to come through this difficult spell.

Belotti: 'Assumed it was a penalty'

Andrea Belotti was stunned Torino didn’t receive a penalty for Matthijs de Ligt’s handball in the defeat to Juventus. “I assumed he’d award it.”

The Granata were eventually beaten by a goal from De Ligt in the second half, but there was controversy before the break when his header bounced off the Dutch defender’s arm.

Desperate Granata face Derby fears

With the Derby Della Mole this evening, Football Italia Chief Correspondent Richard Hall sees Torino in crisis and even victory over Juventus might not resolve their issues.

Walter Mazzarri wasn’t chewing on a water bottle this time, but his bite was just as bad. At the start of the season, the illustrious Granata looked like they had started to begin a transition from historic and loved members of Serie A, to serious and consistent top six contenders. They have the fan base, the iconic prestige and this season, most thought, a special team.

Immobile: 'I didn't mock Belotti'

Lazio striker Ciro Immobile insists he wasn’t mocking Andrea Belotti with his goal celebration against Torino. “It was between Cataldi and I.”

Immobile scored a brace when Lazio beat Torino 4-0 on Wednesday and is now on 12 goals in 10 Serie A matches this season.

His celebration caught some attention this week, as he held his hand to his forehead similar to the chicken celebration of Belotti.

Inzaghi accepts Lazio criticism

Simone Inzaghi is looking to build on an “important win” against Fiorentina and eradicate mistakes from Lazio's game ahead of their Torino encounter.

After three points away at Fiorentina, Inzaghi admits he needs to address some small problems in the side’s performances of late. The win came on the back of a defeat to Celtic in the Europa League and they are now preparing for their third game in six days.

Belotti: 'Liechtenstein lucky for me'

Andrea Belotti admits “Liechtenstein brings me luck,” as five of his total eight Italy goals were against these Euro 2020 opponents.

He had already scored a brace in Vaduz a couple of years ago, then was on target twice in tonight’s 5-0 victory, along with another goal on Italian turf.

“Liechtenstein brings me luck, especially playing here, as I got a brace here last time too,” the Torino striker told Rai Sport.

Practically perfect Italy progress

Italy are a team transformed from World Cup failures to Euro 2020 perfect records, but Giancarlo Rinaldi awaits further developments.

They might have disguised themselves in green, but it did not leave us feeling blue. From one of the lowest points in the history of the Italian national team, we really could not have asked for more.

A 100% Euro 2020 qualification record - matched only by Belgium - and a place secured with three games to spare would have seemed almost unimaginable two years ago. Roberto Mancini has delivered on his promises with the same style he used to produce with the Sampdoria Number 10 on his back.

One or two up for Italy?

While Italy continue to shuffle through No 9s ahead of Euro 2020, Football Italia's Chief Correspondent Richard Hall argues there is also a case for a front two...

There is always debate in Italy when it comes to the national team as there is so much coverage all over the peninsula. This has certainly changed since Giampiero Ventura’s failed attempt to reach the World Cup, which led the Gazzetta dello Sport to capture the public mood with the headline ‘Apocalypse’. The conversations are now often based on whether Italy have the quality, but things are changing. Now, with the European Championship on the horizon, questions like ‘who should start as the main striker?’ are becoming more normal again.
