Glik: 'Disappointed not to face Ronaldo'

Kamil Glik is relishing Benevento’s 1-1 draw with Juventus, but is ‘disappointed’ Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t participate too.

Alvaro Morata’s opener was cancelled out by a Gaetano Letizia volley, while both goalkeepers had to make tricky saves too.

“We were up against a great team, Juventus have so much quality, but we put in a great performance,” Glik told Sky Sport Italia.

Glik: 'Italy truly strong, but so are Poland'

Poland and Benevento defender Kamil Glik admits Italy are ‘truly a strong team’, but his men can still beat them in the Nations League.

It kicks off in Gdansk on Sunday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

“When you win 15 out of 17 games, it means you are truly a strong team,” Glik told Rai Sport.

“However, we’ve got our strengths too and we can put in a great performance tomorrow.”

Kamil Glik has claimed Benevento are not only aiming to stay in Serie A and said he was ‘overwhelmed by the passion’ shown by patron Oreste Vigorito.

Benevento start the season with a trip to Sampdoria on Saturday and Glik prepares for his first competitive game with the Giallorossi.

Benevento made Kamil Glik their first signing since the promotion and President Oreste Vigorito has reportedly planned to bolster the attack with either Daniel Sturridge or Graziano Pellè.

The arrival of the former Torino and Monaco defender was confirmed after a successful medical visit at Villa Stuart in Rome.

“I’m very happy, I have missed Italy,” Glik said, according to Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Report: Glik medical on Monday

Poland international Kamil Glik is closing in on a return to Serie A, as Benevento have reportedly scheduled his medical in Rome this Monday.

Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that the former Torino defender is ‘one step away’ from signing for the Streghe.

Glik will arrive in Rome on Monday for his medical visit and could become the club’s first signing since the confirmed return to Serie A.

He has already played 192 games in Italy, with additional spells at Bari and Palermo.

Monaco defender Kamil Glik is on the verge of agreeing a transfer to newly-promoted Benevento, claim Sky Sport Italia.

The 32-year-old is no stranger to Serie A, having played for Palermo, Bari and Torino from 2010 to 2016.

There is only one season left on his Monaco contract, so a deal has reportedly been struck for €3m including various bonuses.

Benevento are reportedly close to agreeing terms with Monaco defender Kamil Glik and bring the Poland international back to Italy for €3m.
