'Dortmund wanted it more than Inter'

Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre believes his team’s desire to “win at all costs” inspired their comeback in the 3-2 win against Inter.

A brace from full-back Achraf Hakimi either side of a Julian Brandt goal instigated the 3-2 Dortmund victory at Signal Iduna Park, and Favre was full of praise after a classic night of Champions League football.

“He is very offensive, he is always attacking despite being a full-back,” the coach said of Hakimi after the game.

Riedle: 'Borussia have to beat Inter'

Former Lazio forward Karl-Heinz Riedle expects a “tough night” for Antonio Conte’s Inter, but also warns if Borussia Dortmund don't win at least 2-0, "they are more or less out."

The first Champions League encounter at the Giuseppe Meazza ended with a 2-0 win for the Nerazzurri, but Riedle has a feeling that the home side will be lifted by their own fans at the Signal Iduna Park tonight.

Favre sweating over Reus fitness

Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre admits “I still don’t know” if Marco Reus will face Inter in the Champions League tomorrow.

Reus missed the first game against Inter with a muscular problem and Favre considers the forward touch-and-go this time around, despite his cameo during Dortmund’s 3-0 win against Wolfsburg on Saturday.

“I still don't know if Reus make it,“ the coach said at a Press conference.

“We’ll see in the hours before the game. For now, there are no other injuries.

Favre: Inter created almost nothing

Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre played down his side’s 2-0 defeat to Inter as “until the 70th minute, they created almost nothing.”

Goals from Lautaro Martinez and Antonio Candreva gave Inter their first Champions League win of the season last night, but Favre felt the scoreline was not a fair reflection on proceedings.

“We have respect for everyone, we know we’re in a tough group,” he said after the game.

Favre: 'Inter-Borussia not decisive'

Borussia Dortmund coach Lucien Favre insists tomorrow’s showdown with Inter won’t be decisive for Champions League qualification. “Every team has strengths and weaknesses.”

It kicks off on Wednesday at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT) at San Siro.

Goalkeeper Roman Burki remains an injury doubt and will likely only be given the all-clear at the last minute, while Marco Reus, Marcel Schmelzer and Paco Alcacer haven’t made the trip.

Borussia Dortmund eye Balotelli

Mario Balotelli bagged a brace for Nice last night and Borussia Dortmund are the latest club linked with his signature.

The striker is hoping for an Italy recall once Roberto Mancini signs on as the new CT next week.

His form in France certainly warrants consideration, as SuperMario took his tally to 18 goals in yesterday’s win over Caen.

According to Mediaset Premium, Borussia Dortmund are hoping to sign Balotelli if they also hire Nice Coach Lucien Favre.

Favre rues Nice 'errors'

Nice Coach Lucien Favre felt his side “paid a price for many individual errors” in the 3-1 home defeat to Lazio.

Les Aiglons had taken an early lead through Mario Balotelli, but Felipe Caicedo immediately pounced on a goalkeeping howler, then Sergej Milinkovic-Savic bagged a second-half brace.

“It was a fine first half and we were pretty relaxed, but after their second goal, it all became more difficult,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

Lucien Favre calls Lazio “a great team” as he prepares to face them with Nice tomorrow night.

The two sides have won both of their opening Europa League games, and will face off back-to-back, starting at the Allianz Riviera tomorrow night.

Favre: ‘Ventura never called me’

Nice Coach Lucien Favre says Italy CT Giampiero Ventura “has never called me” regarding Mario Balotelli.

The striker hasn’t played for the Azzurri since the 2014 World Cup, but his good form in France has led to calls for a return.

Aiglons President Jean-Pierre Rivère yesterday vouched for Super Mario’s behaviour in France, but it appears Ventura hasn’t enquired about his situation.
