There are increasing reports in Spain that Atletico Madrid will ask UEFA to investigate Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo for his ‘offensive’ celebration.

This sort of action could lead to a ban of anything between one and three games.

CR7 made the gesture after completing his hat-trick in a 3-0 victory over Atleti, securing Juve’s place in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Who does Allegri think he's kidding?

Max Allegri and Juventus fans can’t possibly believe crashing out of the Champions League Round of 16 wouldn’t be “a failure,” notes Jay Cassano.

“If Juventus go out, it won’t be a failure.”

With all due respect to Massimiliano Allegri, he was wrong when he spoke those words. And he knows it. Everyone knows it.

Juventus has been on an incredible domestic run, on the road to what is an all but mathematically certain eighth consecutive Scudetto. A run that included a streak of four domestic doubles from 2014 to 2018.

Chiellini: 'Atleti similar to Juventus'

Giorgio Chiellini assured Juventus are accustomed to pressure going into the Champions League showdown with Atletico Madrid, “the European team most similar to ours.”

The first leg ended 2-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano, but the decider for a place in the Champions League quarter-final is on Tuesday at 20.00 GMT.

“We’re not concerned at the talk of failure, because we have a lot of enthusiasm, are in the Round of 16, so we want to go on to the quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final,” said the captain in his Press conference.

Simeone: 'No Juve-Atleti favourites'

Diego Simeone confirmed Diego Godin will start for Atletico Madrid and warned Juventus “are not just Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s hard to talk about favourites” even after a 2-0 first leg win.

The Juventus Stadium hosts the Champions League Round of 16 decider on Tuesday at 20.00 GMT.

“I think whenever it’s a knockout round like this between two such important clubs, both treat it like two halves of one match,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

Simeone avoids Juve touchline ban

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone will be able to take his place in the dugout against Juventus next week after avoiding a ban for his explicit gesture.

UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body announced on Thursday that Simeone would instead be fined €20,000.

The former Inter and Lazio midfielder caused controversy with his celebration after Juve had fallen a goal behind in their Champions League last-16 first leg, turning towards the fans at the Wanda Metropolitano and grabbing his crotch.

Simeone investigated for Juve gesture

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is being investigated for his explicit gesture against Juventus, while the Bianconeri could be punished for a late start.

UEFA confirmed on Monday that disciplinary proceedings had been opened against Atleti for blocked stairways at Wanda Metropolitano, throwing of objects and improper conduct, relating to his crotch-grab celebration after his side took the lead last week.

Its statement added Juve were also being probed for a late kick-off during their 2-0 defeat to the Spaniards, as was Coach Max Allegri.

Simeone: 'I apologise for my gesture'

Atletico Madrid Coach Diego Simeone apologised for his gesture of celebration against Juventus and shrugged off Diego Godin’s imminent Inter move.

The tactician pointed to his groin to show he had ‘cojones’ during the 2-0 Champions League victory on Wednesday and could get a fine or suspension from UEFA, as he is not new to such outlandish touchline antics.
