Pallotta: 'Garcia must know better'

Roma President James Pallotta warns Rudi Garcia about his tactical choices, but director Walter Sabatini backs the Coach.

The Giallorossi' track record has been uneven in the beginning of this season, and the catastrophic first half in their 3-2 defeat to BATE Borisov led many to question the Frenchman's competence.

“We have excellent players,” Pallotta told Il Tempo. “Now Rudi must know who should play, and in what combinations.

Sabatini: 'Serious Roma test'

Walter Sabatini warned Roma face “a very, very serious test” in the Champions League against BATE Borisov.

It kicks off in Belarus at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT), follow the action and comment on our LIVEBLOG.

“It’s not just about money, but what also matters to us is prestige,” the director told Mediaset Premium.

Sabatini: ‘Roma pay for changes’

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini believes they are ‘paying the price for changes’ after defeat to Sampdoria.

The Giallorossi were beaten 2-1 at the Stadio Marassi on Wednesday and have only picked  up eight points from a possible 15 after a spending spree over the summer.

"Am I anxious about the performance? Every team pays the price for the changes they make and for a game structure that may not yet be fluid,” Sabatini said to Roma’s official TV channel.

Preziosi ‘won’t talk to Sabatini’

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi 'won't speak to' Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini again for how he handled the deal for Juan Iturbe.

Roma: 'Sorry Genoa, Iturbe stays'

Roma director Walter Sabatini apologised to Genoa, as Juan Manuel Iturbe “is staying with us,” but Victor Ibarbo is in the balance.

There was a deal in place for Iturbe to join Genoa on loan, then Sampdoria dived in with a proposal for both the striker and teammate Ibarbo.

“I take this opportunity to apologise publicly to Genoa,” Sabatini declared on Mediaset Premium.

“I accepted a negotiation with them to help him grow. Then doubts arose within me that I would’ve weakened Roma, so nothing more will come of it.

Roma meet for Juan Jesus?

Roma are reportedly meeting with Inter to discuss a move for defender Juan Jesus.

The Giallorossi are still seeking reinforcements in defence, with new buy Antonio Rudiger still carrying an injury.

It’s thought the Brazilian is surplus to requirements for the Nerazzurri, who have brought in Jeison Murillo and Miranda this summer.

Gianluca Di Marzio’s website reports that Piero Ausilio and Walter Sabatini, the sporting directors at the respective clubs are currently meeting at the Atahotel in Milan.

Balzaretti to announce retirement

Roma’s Federico Balzaretti will announce his retirement at a Press conference tomorrow, but will take up a role behind the scenes.

The 33-year-old has been battling a pelvic injury for the past two seasons, making just one appearance last term.

The Italian international had previously admitted that the condition could end his career, and Gianluca Di Marzio’s website reports he will announce he is hanging up his boots at a Press conference tomorrow.

Castan: ‘I had to learn to walk again’

Roma defender Leandro Castan opens up about his recovery from brain surgery - ‘I had to learn to walk again’.

The Brazilian went under the knife in December to remove a brain malformation, and is now building up his fitness ahead of the new season.

“It all started when I had a problem with my sight,” Castan told Diario SP in his homeland.

Sabatini: 'Roma market not over'

Walter Sabatini said Roma’s biggest transfer “is still to come” after Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah.

This evening the Giallorossi confirmed Alessio Romagnoli will move to Milan for a reported €25m plus €5m bonuses.

The director of sport also commented on the other activity, as Dzeko’s transfer from Manchester City will be completed once Antonio Sanabria goes to Sporting Gijon, freeing up a non-EU place.
