Torreira-Diawara swap deal?

Roma could work out another deal with Arsenal and potentially swap Amadou Diawara for Lucas Torreira.

The Giallorossi, waiting for Dan Friedkin to take over the Presidency after Jim Pallotta, have already signed Chelsea winger Pedro on a free transfer and could enter new negotiations with another Premier League club.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Arsenal have targeted Diawara and mention a possible exchange deal including former Sampdoria midfielder Torreira.

Report: Diawara returns to action

Amadou Diawara should be one step away from returning to action for Roma and will play with the reserves tomorrow, according to Il Messaggero.

The midfielder has been out since he suffered a lesion to the meniscus and his last game came against Genoa on January 19.

But the newspaper has now revealed that his conservative rehabilitation programme has been showing great results.

Fonseca: 'Still believe in Roma'

Roma coach Paulo Fonseca says he still believes in his side, despite results, and that Amadou Diawara is “feeling good” after returning to training.

The Giallorossi are on a poor run of form, having lost three consecutive games to Sassuolo, Bologna and Atalanta in Serie A.

They take on Gent tomorrow in the Round of 32 in the Europa League, with kick off at 20:00 GMT, and Fonseca says their recent form shouldn’t be a factor in the game.

Diawara might need surgery

Roma are leaning towards an operation for Amadou Diawara’s knee injury, which would effectively put an end to his season.

The midfielder suffered a lesion to the meniscus and tried to take a couple of weeks to see if conservative treatment would be enough to resolve it.

However, according to the Corriere dello Sport, progress has not been good and surgery is increasingly likely.

If that is confirmed, then Diawara will likely be out of action for the rest of the season, approximately three months.

Roma sweating over Diawara

Roma are sweating over the fitness of Amadou Diawara, who will undergo further tests in hope of avoiding surgery.

The midfielder might have injured the external meniscus in his left knee during the Coppa Italia defeat to Juventus and if that’s the case, he could be out for the next three months.

The Guinean has previously had damages to the same knee, but then it was the internal meniscus and a shorter time of the recovery.

Chelsea and Spurs scout Diawara

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur scouts are due to be at the Stadio Olimpico today to watch Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the representatives are on the guest list for this evening’s Serie A game against Juventus.

Their target would seem to be 22-year-old Guinea international Diawara.

He has been in Italy since 2015 and shot to fame at Bologna, earning a €14.5m transfer to Napoli in the summer of 2016.

Diawara then joined Roma this season in a deal worth €21m.
