Allegri up for Madrid job?

Former Juventus boss Max Allegri is reportedly among the candidates to replace Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.

Zidane is under intense pressure in his second spell as Madrid Coach after a 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

According to Marca, Los Blancos are already thinking about a change at the helm and could go back in for Allegri.

The 52-year-old was linked with the hotseat after Zizou vacated it in the summer of 2018 but chose to stay at Juve.

Zidane: 'Happy if James stays'

Napoli transfer target James Rodriguez starts for Real Madrid today, as Zinedine Zidane would “be happy if he stayed.”

The Colombia international had been on the outskirts of the squad after returning from a two-season loan at Bayern Munich.

Atletico Madrid and Napoli were interested, but preferred a discount on the €42m asking price, or a loan with option to buy structure.

With other injuries, James climbed up the ranking and impressed the Coach in training, enough to be in the starting XI against Real Valladolid this evening.

Zidane: James in Madrid plans

Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that Napoli target James Rodriguez is in his Real Madrid plans. “He’s fit and I’m glad he’s in the squad.”

James struggled to catch a break during Zidane’s first tenure as Madrid boss and spent the last two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich.

He chose not to make his spell permanent and was expected to join Napoli, but Los Blancos’ failure to sign Paul Pogba has seemingly kept the midfielder in Spain.

Napoli: Madrid to keep James?

Napoli have been dealt a blow for James Rodriguez as it is alleged Real Madrid will not sell him if they cannot sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United.

Deals for James and Pogba are proving hard to come by, with Napoli insisting on a loan deal for the former and United pricing Madrid out of the later.

United are in a position of power with regards to the Frenchman as the English transfer window has already closed and the Red Devils are under no pressure to sell.

Napoli: Zidane 'counting' on James

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has assured that he is still ‘counting’ on James Rodriguez, casting doubt over a possible move to Napoli.

Napoli have long been on James’ trail, but their reluctance to splash out €42m means the midfielder is still a Madrid player.

The Colombian was left out of Los Blancos’ last two friendlies against Red Bull Salzburg and Roma, but Zidane made it clear he could yet work his way back into contention.

Zidane: 'Don't know if James stays'

Zinedine Zidane admits he doesn’t know “if James Rodriguez is going to be at Real Madrid next season” amid Napoli and Atletico Madrid interest.

While the Merengues are trying to make it look as if the Colombia international could remain following Marco Asensio’s injury, the Coach continued to show little regard for the player who spent the last two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich.

“I don't know if James is going to be in Madrid next season,” Zidane told reporters after an Audi Cup defeat to Tottenham.

On this day: Italy win the World Cup!

On this day in 2006, Italy beat France on penalties to win their fourth World Cup.

The Azzurri had come into the tournament under the shadow of the Calciopoli scandal, but a semi-final win over hosts Germany booked their place in the final.

CT Marcello Lippi opted for the same team which started the match in Dortmund, with Francesco Totti preferred to Alessandro Del Piero in attack.

It was a nightmare start for the Azzurri though, as referee Benito Archundia awarded Les Bleus a penalty after just six minutes.

Inter poach Real Madrid fitness coach

Antonio Conte and Inter have reportedly poached Real Madrid conditioning coach Antonio Pintus, who did not get along with Zinedine Zidane.

According to the Corriere dello Sport and Marca, Italian Pintus had an increasingly tense rapport with the club, particularly under Julen Lopetegui and Zidane.

There was a brief respite in which he became more central to the project when Santiago Solari was on the bench.

Pintus has already worked with Conte at Juventus and Chelsea, while previous clubs include Olympique Marseille and Palermo.
