Candreva: 'I bring experience'

Sampdoria winger Antonio Candreva thanked coach Claudio Ranieri and patron Massimo Ferrero and hopes to help Fabio Quagliarella ‘score many goals’.

The former Inter man has moved to the Blucerchiati this summer and chipped in with an assist in his first game at the Marassi.

“Starting this new experience is nice,” he told the club’s official website. “I have a lot of enthusiasm and desire to do well.

“My new teammates have welcomed me, and the negotiations were quick. I was already talking to Quagliarella.

Bonazzoli: 'Samp will play to beat Juve'

Sampdoria striker Federico Bonazzoli vows to ‘play for three points’ against Juventus in the opening match on Sunday and revealed he lives ‘his best moment’ in Genoa.

The 23-year-old returned from loan at Padova ahead of 2019-20 and impressed in Serie A with the Blucerchiati, contributing six goals in 19 League matches.

Sampdoria held by Alessandria

Sampdoria were held in a 2-2 friendly draw by Serie C side Alessandria, with Fabio Quagliarella and Federico Bonazzoli on target.

Claudio Ranieri’s men had their first pre-season outing and it was a special event, as there were circa 1,000 fans allowed into the stands using social distancing measures and masks.

Quagliarella opened the scoring by gathering from Valerio Verre and turning on a sixpence to place his finish into the bottom corner.

Quagliarella takes pay cut to help Samp

Sampdoria forward Fabio Quagliarella has reportedly cut part of his salary to help the Blucerchiati economically.

The Serie A side have introduced a new wage cap at €1m a year and Quagliarella has, according to Tuttosport, therefore decided to cut his salary accordingly.

The newspaper reports the club feels Gaston Ramirez should do the same, but the Uruguayan forward has other options and considers leaving the club.

Quagliarella, who arrived from Torino in July 2016, turned 37 in January but continues to play an important role at the Marassi.

Quagliarella skips Inter-Samp

Fabio Quagliarella and Alex Ferrari are out of the Sampdoria squad travelling to face Inter on Sunday evening.

It kicks off tomorrow at 20.45 UK time (19.45 GMT), click here for a match preview.

Quagliarella is not 100 per cent fit and won’t be risked for the visit to San Siro, as he suffered a slight calf problem in training.

That means Gaston Ramirez could be pushed into a more advanced role with Manolo Gabbiadini.

Quagliarella out of Inter-Samp

Fabio Quagliarella will miss Sampdoria’s Serie A match against Inter on Sunday with a calf injury.

Sky Sport Italia reports Quagliarella has yet to resume training since picking up the problem in a training match last weekend.

“I don’t want to risk him,” Samp boss Claudio Ranieri said at his press conference for the game earlier.

“He hasn’t looked great for 3-4 days, so I want to leave him to rest.

Coppa Italia Final 2012: Juventus-Napoli

The last time Napoli and Juventus met in a Coppa Italia Final was May 20, 2012, also the Partenopei's first piece of silverware since the Diego Maradona era.

It was Aurelio De Laurentiis who could celebrate after the final whistle, as Edinson Cavani and Marek Hamsik provided a 2-0 win at the Stadio Olimpico.

Cavani opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 63 minutes, his fifth goal in the competition, before Hamsik added the second in the 83rd.

Quagliarella: 'Dedicate goal to fans'

Fabio Quagliarella has revealed that he went to the camera to celebrate with the fans at home, as his brace helped Sampdoria beat Hellas Verona.

A penalty in the 86th minute decided the game for the Blucerchiati, when Quagliarella completed the turnaround within 10 minutes at the end of the second half.

He revealed it was a difficult moment at the Marassi and claimed it was a bigger “disadvantage” for the home side on Sunday.

Batigol snipes at Ronaldo record

Gabriel Batistuta saluted Cristiano Ronaldo for equalling his Serie A record on social media, albeit pointing out "it's easier when you rest."

Ronaldo netted for Juventus in the 2-1 win against SPAL yesterday.

It was the Portuguese star’s 11th consecutive appearance in on target for the Bianconeri.

This allowed Ronaldo to equal the record set by Batistuta at Fiorentina in 1994-95 and Fabio Quagliarella with Sampdoria last season.
