Teun Koopmeiners will be among the hottest commodities in the summer transfer window with Juventus and Manchester United among the most interested clubs in the Dutch midfielder: but why is the Atalanta star so special?

Koopmeiners is probably Serie A’s best midfielder in 2023-24, having inspired La Dea’s brilliant season with 13 goals and five assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.

The 26-year-old is only the last Dutch star gracing the league with class, tactical smartness and goal contributions which have made him become one of the most sought-after midfielders in Europe. Many players from the Netherlands have already made history in Serie A and Dutch speaking persons looking for no deposit bonuses have plenty of options to bet on Koop and his compatriot Marten de Roon who have some key games ahead. Their Atalanta side, in fact, have qualified for the Europa League and Coppa Italia semis and are still involved in the race to qualify for the Champions League race in Serie A.

As Football Italia transfer expert Matteo Moretto has recently reported, Manchester United have recently enquired about Koopmeiners, but Juventus remain the most interested club in the exciting midfielder.

The Netherlands international is expected to leave Bergamo in the summer, as he admitted in his latest interview: “I told Atalanta I want to leave in the summer,” said the Dutch midfielder.

“Last season, there was concrete interest from Napoli, but the two clubs didn’t reach an agreement. I hope there will be options to consider this year. My girlfriend and I are enjoying Italy, but I would endure rain for some clubs in England.

“I’d lie if I said I have no news of interest from Juventus and Premier League clubs. I read the news, too. I’ve had an amazing time at Atalanta and I hope they will get a big sum.”

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini has surely found the best way to deploy Koopmeiners this season. Koop has been playing as an attacking midfielder in an exciting Atalanta side and if you look at his heatmaps after each match, you’d see him play very, very close, the opponents’ goal while De Roon and Ederson take care of the defensive side of things in Bergamo.

Atalanta have plenty of attacking options with Gianluca Scamacca, Charles De Ketelaere and Ademola Lookman, but Koopmeiners has been an extra weapon for the Gasperini who has been able to turn a good central midfielder into an excellent attacking midfielder with nearly 20 goal contributions across all competitions.

Whoever gets Koopmeiners in the summer will have to consider his impact in the final third to take the best out of him and make sure his purchase will be worth every penny given that Atalanta won’t sell the Dutch star for less than €60m.
