Manolas: 'Qualification still 50-50'

Kostas Manolas celebrated the Napoli victory away to Inter, but warned “qualification is still 50-50” for the Coppa Italia Final ahead of the second leg.

A deflected Fabian Ruiz effort made the difference at San Siro in the first leg of the semi-final.

“After a heavy home defeat to Lecce, we put in a great performance this evening and all the lads deserve credit,” the defender told Rai Sport.

Manolas: 'Compatible with Koulibaly'

Report: Mertens out of Inter match

Napoli forward Dries Mertens has reportedly travelled home to Belgium, as a thigh injury forces him to miss the match against Inter.

The Partenopei coach Gennaro Gattuso’s injury list is growing ahead of the big game against the Nerazzurri on Monday night and the latest setback comes for the Belgium international Mertens.

Sky Sport Italia reports that the attacker struggles with an adductor problem in the thigh and has travelled back to his native Belgium and is expected to return during the middle of next week.

Napoli players salute sacked Ancelotti

Napoli players have taken to Instagram to post well wishes for out-going boss Carlo Ancelotti following his dismissal, as Gennaro Gattuso prepares to take over.

Ancelotti was sacked hours after guiding the Partenopei to the Champions League Round of 16 for only the third time in their history, following the disintegration of his relationship with President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Players have been sending their messages of farewell on social media.

Manolas: 'Win fuels excitement'

Kostas Manolas believes the win against Racing Genk could kickstart Napoli’s season as they "deserved" to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League.

With mission now accomplished in Europe, Manolas feels the 4-0 victory can “generate some excitement” for when his team try to turn things around in Serie A.

“It’s a win that can generate some excitement,” the defender told Napoli’s official website.

Koulibaly injury scare for Napoli

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is in doubt to feature against Udinese or KRC Genk after suffering a shoulder injury.

The Senegal international fell heavily on to his left shoulder during this morning’s training session.

According to Sky Sport Italia, it’s not yet clear when Koulibaly will be available to start.

As Kostas Manolas has also been struggling with bruised ribs for several weeks, Carlo Ancelotti is down to the bare bones.

Napoli host Udinese on Saturday, hoping to end a lengthy winless streak in Serie A.

Manolas: 'We can do better'

Kostas Manolas struggled to explain why Napoli were going through a bad patch but accepted they had to defend better as a team.

Napolis 2-1 defeat to Roma marked their third game without a win and saw them drop to sixth in Serie A, but they can qualify for the Champions League knockout stages with victory over Red Bull Salzburg tomorrow.

“I have played six matches with Koulibaly and we’ve done well. We only conceded two goals against Roma,” Manolas said at a Press conference.
