Lewandowski: 'Sorry for Szczesny, but Inter deserved the Scudetto'

Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski said Roberto Baggio was his ‘first idol’, admitted he felt 'sorry' for Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny but stressed Inter ‘deserved’ to win Serie A.

The Poland international spoke to Tuttosport and was asked about a possible future in Italy.

“Roby Baggio was my first idol,” Lewandowski said. “I watched him playing for Italy and I was crazy about him.

Lewandowski out of both PSG clashes

The Italians playing for PSG have suddenly become favourites to reach the Champions League semi-finals after Bayern Munich confirmed Robert Lewandowski is out for a month.

He picked up a knee injury on international duty with Poland and tests showed there was more damage than previously thought.

“Lewandowski has strained a ligament in his right knee,” read the statement.

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski admits his idols growing up played in Serie A, Roberto Baggio and Alessandro Del Piero.

He will host Lazio this evening in the Champions League Round of 16, having won the first leg 4-1.

Ciro Immobile says he constantly studies other strikers and insists Robert Lewandowski is the ‘best No.9’ in the world.

Immobile’s Lazio will meet Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 on Wednesday.

“I study strikers in every football match I watch, in every league,” Immobile told Sky Sport Italia.

“Egoism is part of each striker. When we see the goal, we only think about that. It’s a matter of instinct.
