Serie B: Benevento break records

Benevento crushed Ascoli 4-0 to set a new all-time Serie B points record, but Pordenone, Crotone and Entella win too, Frosinone stalled by Pisa.

Pippo Inzaghi’s Benevento registered a seventh consecutive victory, but above all hit 46 points after 19 rounds, beating Sassuolo’s record of 45 from 2012-13.

Le Streghe are now 12 points clear at the top of the Serie B table and well on their way towards promotion.

Milan legends celebrate 120th birthday

Milan are preparing to celebrate their 120th birthday over the weekend, with former greats expected to be present for the game against Sassuolo.

The club officially turned 120 years old yesterday, but the Rossoneri will be commemorating the anniversary tomorrow and on Monday.

The club will present a raft of legendary players at half time during the game against the Neroverdi.

Pippo Inzaghi’s Benevento consolidated their domination of the Serie B table with a 5-0 demolition of Trapani.

Nicola Viola was the star of the show with a hat-trick, including a penalty, along with Massimo Coda and Marco Sau.

Bologna can believe with Mihajlovic

Having pulled off a miraculous escape from relegation, Bologna are looking to take the next step with Sinisa Mihajlovic, writes Vijay Rahaman.

"I never want to experience that again." Those were the words of Bologna President Joey Saputo following the club's confirmation of their Serie A status, after a 3-3 result away to Lazio. The mere fact that the Rossoblu were even able to avoid the drop will be talked about for years to come and much of the praise must go to Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Official: Benevento appoint Inzaghi

Pippo Inzaghi has officially been appointed as the new Coach of Serie B side Benevento.

The tactician terminated his contract with Bologna by mutual consent, having been fired in January, so he could be free for this new adventure.

A statement from Benevento confirmed Inzaghi signed a one-year deal with option for a second term.

Former Milan player Inzaghi started his management career at San Siro, but only lasted one season, then managed seven months with Bologna.

Pippo Inzaghi set for Benevento

Pippo Inzaghi has reached an agreement with Bologna to terminate his contract, leaving him free to take over at Serie B side Benevento.

According to Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, the 45-year-old World Cup winner has finalised the termination of his contract with the Rossoblu and is set to take over at Benevento.

He’ll replace Cristian Bucchi, who has just joined Empoli.

Inzaghi was sacked from the Emilia-Romagna club in January after just six months in charge at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

Inzaghi or Giampaolo for Milan?

Milan have reportedly put Simone Inzaghi top of their wish-list, but Lazio intend to block this move and Marco Giampaolo is next in line.

According to Sport Mediaset, CEO Ivan Gazidis and Paolo Maldini met to discuss who will replace Gennaro Gattuso as the new Coach of the Rossoneri and the Lazio tactician was the name proposed by the current sporting strategy and development director.
