Sabatini: 'Closer to Nainggolan'

Roma director Walter Sabatini said they are “closer” to a Radja Nainggolan deal, but moving the derby with Lazio is “wrong.”

The director of sport spoke to Sky Sport Italia ahead of tonight’s game with Udinese.

Nainggolan arrived in a co-ownership deal from Cagliari, but the two clubs must work out what to do at the end of the season or risk seeing another side come in for half his contract.

Sabatini: 'Disturbing Roma'

Roma director Walter Sabatini said the performance against Milan was “disturbing” and threatened a training retreat.

The Giallorossi risk losing second place and seeing Napoli close to within two points after their shock 2-1 defeat.

“We’ll talk to the Coach tonight or tomorrow morning and see what we can do to give a contribution to this team,” Sabatini told Sky Sport Italia.

Sabatini: 'Roma risk failure'

Walter Sabatini admitted Roma must “get accustomed to this new reality” of fighting for third place.

The 2-1 defeat to Inter tonight means if Napoli beat Sampdoria on Sunday night, the Giallorossi will be only two points clear of fourth place.

“Evidently not getting into the Champions League would be a failure,” confessed the director on Sky Sport Italia.

Striker profligacy for Roma

Roma's forwards continue to misfire in key situations. Aman Sehdev wonders if Victor Ibarbo and Seydou Doumbia can prove the doubters wrong.

The feel good factor after two consecutive victories was brought back to a screeching halt with another anaemic draw, this time away to Torino. It is with worrying regularity that the Giallorossi's strikers aren't able to finish off moves. Coach Rudi Garcia noted he was pleased with the amount of chances created on Sunday afternoon, but without a predatory goal scorer the team suffers.

Sabatini: 'Iturbe, show your strength'

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini had a one-on-one meeting with forward Juan Iturbe, according to reports, and confirmed the club's trust.

The 21-year-old represented the Giallorossi's greatest investment towards the current season, having been purchased from Hellas Verona for €22m, but his overall performances failed to justify the price-tag in the eyes of many.

Walter Sabatini is reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport to have held a one-on-one meeting with the striker, looking to reassure him.

Sabatini: ‘Fans, don’t abandon Roma’

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini spoke with fans outside the training ground, urging them not to ‘abandon’ the team.

The Giallorossi’s season is in tatters after a 3-0 defeat at home to Fiorentina saw them crash out of the Europa League, having already been eliminated from the Coppa Italia.

Rudi Garcia’s side also trail Juventus by 14 points in Serie A, and it now seems almost certain that they will end the season without a trophy.

Sabatini to leave Roma?

Sporting director Walter Sabatini will leave Roma at the end of the season, if reports this morning are to be believed.

The Giallorossi are in dreadful form, and the director has been criticised for his transfer dealings in January, bringing in Victor Ibarbo and Seydou Doumbia who have had negligible impact.

Sabatini admitted yesterday that he had made mistakes, expressing his regret after failing to sign Mohamed Salah.
