Manzano ref for Lyon-Juventus

Jesus Gil Manzano will officiate the Champions League game between Lyon and Juventus, while Italian Daniele Orsato takes Real Madrid-Manchester City.

UEFA have assigned the referees for Wednesday’s Round of 16 first leg ties.

Spain’s Jesus Gil Manzano wields the whistle in Lyon for the visit of Juventus, assisted by Diego Barbero Sevilla and Angel Nevado Rodriguez, with Guillermo Cuadra Fernandez as the fourth official.

Juan Martinez Munuera is in the VAR booth.

Sarri 'evaluates' Chiellini

Maurizio Sarri only focused on the match against SPAL in Serie A and has revealed that Giorgio Chiellini could be back in Juventus' starting line-up.

The captain returned against Brescia but Sarri didn’t want to guarantee the Italy international a place in the first XI against SPAL in Ferrara.

He revealed that they will “evaluate” after the training session today and the same goes for another veteran, goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.

Aulas: 'Sarri one of the best'

Olympique Lyonnais President Jean-Michel Aulas has claimed that Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri is “at the same level” of Pep Guardiola and Jürgen Klopp.

The Bianconeri are preparing for a trip to Lyon ahead of their round of 16 encounter with Les Gones in the Champions League next week and Aulas is looking forward to the test.

Former Roma coach Rudi Garcia is in charge of his team and he hopes the tactician will be able to exploit on his experience from Serie A.

Aulas wants Aouar to play for Juventus

President Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed contact between Olympique Lyonnais and Juventus about Houssem Aouar, “I would like to see him at Juve”.

The midfielder has impressed after coming through the ranks at Lyon and Juventus has been looking at the 21-year-old as a possible reinforcement in the middle of the park.

Aouar started his Lyon career at 11 and his stride through the age groups with Les Gones has not gone unnoticed in Europe.

Garcia: 'I left the violin in Italy'

Former Roma coach Rudi Garcia has claimed he “left” his famous violin in Italy ahead of Olympique Lyonnais' clash with Juventus in the Champions League.

The French tactician has returned to Ligue 1 after his spell in the Italian capital and he is eager to exploit his knowledge about Juventus when Lyon take on the Old Lady in a two-legged round of 16 in the prestigious tournament.

Garcia: 'Ronaldo, stop at the border'

Olympique Lyonnais coach Rudi Garcia joked that he hopes Cristiano Ronaldo “decides to stop at the border” when he expects a Juventus “determined to succeed”.

Lyon host Juventus after a turbulent season in Ligue 1 and could do with a break from the League. But their next hurdle in Europe will provide a big challenge against the Serie A leaders.

Pjanic avoids serious injury

Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic has escaped serious injury, and is expected to be back for the club’s Champions League clash with Lyon next week.

The Bosnian came on as a substitute against Brescia yesterday in the second half.

However Pjanic was only on the pitch for seven minutes before falling to the ground holding his groin.

The 29-year-old was immediately replaced by Blaise Matuidi.

Chiellini returns, Pjanic out

Juventus welcomed back Giorgio Chiellini after six months out, but Miralem Pjanic faces a spell on the sidelines.

Chiellini had missed all-but-one game this season, after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in the first week of the season.

The defender replaced Leonardo Bonucci in the 77th minute of today’s game against Brescia to a standing ovation from the Bianconeri fans.

Pjanic meanwhile faces a spell on the sidelines with a groin injury.

Klopp: 'Juventus Champions favourites'
