Milan prepare to pounce for Depay

Milan are preparing to pounce for Olympique Lyonnais winger Memphis Depay at a cut-price deal of €20m, claims Tuttomercatoweb.

According to the Italian report, the offer is worth €20m plus a percentage of any future transfer fee.

The 26-year-old Dutch international is currently out of action after a torn anterior cruciate ligament, but should be ready to start next season.

His contract with Lyon expires in June 2021 and a renewal is unlikely, especially as the early termination of Ligue 1 means the club won’t qualify for Europe.

Lyon-Juve 'was match zero'

A report in today’s L’Equipe claims Olympique Lyonnais-Juventus might have played an important role in the spread of coronavirus in France.

According to a retired doctor based in Lyon, the Champions League Last-16 tie between the two teams at Groupama Stadium last month - which OL won 1-0 - ‘shouldn’t have gone ahead’.

Dubbing it ‘match-zero’, L’Equipe wrote: “The Round-of-16 first leg on February 26 and the influx of Italian supporters may have favoured the spread of COVID-19 in the Rhone.”
