Missiroli: 'Insecure SPAL'

Midfielder Simone Missiroli admits SPAL have “become insecure” after a poor start to the season and hopes a good result against Genoa could “spur” them on.

Missiroli has played all 12 games in a squad suffering from injuries this term and the 33-year-old hopes some good performances could reunite the group.

Semplici: 'SPAL found ourselves'

Leonardo Semplici said SPAL “found ourselves again this evening” after beating Roma 2-1. “We must try to replicate this performance.”

The Spallini were without a home victory since September 17 and had managed just one win in their last 18 Serie A games.

“It was a great performance and we found ourselves again this evening,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

Missiroli: ‘Why I left Sassuolo’

Simone Missiroli explains Sassuolo Coach Roberto De Zerbi “told me I wasn’t part of his plans” but “I’ve found almost the same climate here at Spal”.

The 32-year-old played for the Neroverdi for seven seasons, including two in Serie B, but was allowed to leave this summer when the new Coach arrived.

“I really appreciated De Zerbi’s clarity,” Missiroli insisted, speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport.

“He came to me and he told me very honestly that I wasn’t part of his plans. He was sincere.

Official: SPAL sign Missiroli

SPAL have announced the signing of midfielder Simone Missiroli from Sassuolo on a three-year contract.

The deal was confirmed in a statement on SPAL’s official website, although a fee remains undisclosed.

Missiroli spent seven seasons at Sassuolo, helping establish them as a Serie A side in his 197 appearances.

The 32-year-old, who began his career down south with Reggina, represented Italy twice at Under-20 level.

Sassuolo part with pair

Sassuolo are sending midfielder Simone Missiroli to SPAL, while Timo Letschert is on his way to Utrecht.

The Neroverdi have been very active on the transfer market this summer, bringing in the likes of Kevin-Prince Boateng and Barcelona defender Marlon.

According to Sportitalia, they are now whittling down the squad with some exits ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline.

Midfielder Missiroli has been at the club since 2012, but the 32-year-old is moving on to fellow Serie A side SPAL.
