Roma handed double boost

Roma have been handed a double boost with the inclusions of Daniele De Rossi and Kevin Strootman in their squad to face Cagliari.

The match kicks off at 19:45 GMT tomorrow – click here for a preview.

De Rossi returns after serving a two-match ban for slapping Genoa striker Gianluca Lapadula, while Strootman pulled through training on Friday.

However, there is no such luck for Gregoire Defrel, who is still recovering from a knee injury.

Defrel suffers knee injury

Roma have confirmed that striker Gregoire Defrel sustained a knee problem during their 1-1 draw with Genoa on Sunday.

A medical report on Roma’s official website explained how Defrel took “a heavy blow to his left knee joint” in the final half-hour at Marassi and will now be placed on a recovery programme.

The Frenchman has yet to score in 10 appearances for the Giallorossi since following Coach Eusebio Di Francesco out of Sassuolo over the summer.

Roma trio target Chelsea game

Bruno Peres, Gregoire Defrel and Kostas Manolas are confident they’ll be ready to play when Roma host Chelsea on Tuesday.

The Giallorossi played a 3-3 thriller at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League and take on Antonio Conte’s side in the return leg next week.

Peres limped off during this evening’s 1-0 Serie A victory over Bologna clutching the back of his right thigh.

Schick & Defrel back at Torino?

Patrik Schick and Gregoire Defrel could be back for Roma’s trip to Torino on Sunday after they trained with the first team on Friday.

Pagine Romaniste reports the two forwards trained “properly with the squad”, with a hamstring injury keeping Schick out for the past month and thigh swelling sidelining Defrel for a similar spell.

Manolas out for a month?

Kostas Manolas’ thigh injury could be worse than initially feared as reports claim the Roma defender faces 3-4 weeks out.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma are hopeful of having Manolas back on November 5, when they take on Fiorentina.

It comes after the Greece international was first expected to miss only Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Chelsea and possibly Torino at the weekend.
