Serie B: Reggina call Zarate too

Reggina are celebrating promotion into Serie B with German Denis and soon Jeremy Menez, but could also try to sign Mauro Zarate.

The club from Reggio-Calabria will be in Serie B for the 2020-21 season after winning their Serie C group.

They already have former Napoli and Atalanta striker ‘Tanque’ Denis in their squad, while ex-Roma and Milan attacking winger Menez is working out the final details of his contract.

Now TMW report another familiar face to Serie A is on their radar, as an offer has been made to Zarate.

Le Iene hits back at Lotito

Satirical TV show Le Iene has hit back at Lazio owner Claudio Lotito following his threat of legal action, asking ‘how did he get hold of our film?’

Lotito vowed to sue the Mediaset programme on the eve of it broadcasting an alleged expose into the patron’s business practices, on how he paid part of Mauro Zarate’s salary off the books.

Lazio to also sue Le Iene

Lazio have announced that they will be taking legal action against Le Iene over corruption allegations concerning Claudio Lotito.

The satirical TV show will broadcast a programme tomorrow on how Lotito allegedly paid former Lazio striker Mauro Zarate ‘under the table’ through a shell company.

Lotito-Zarate controversy shelved

Television programme Le Iene announced they have postponed an interview accusing Lazio President Claudio Lotito of paying Mauro Zarate wages ‘under the table.’

The report first appeared in La Gazzetta dello Sport and Lotito is now suing the newspaper for defamation.

'Lotito paid Zarate's salary under the table'

Mauro Zarate’s former agent has, according to Le Iene, alleged the forward was paid ‘under the table’ by Lazio President Claudio Lotito.

Yesterday, Lazio announced that Claudio Lotito is suing the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper for defamation.

Today La Gazzetta dello Sport responds with a report anticipating today’s episode of Le Iene, who will reportedly release footage with the Boca Juniors man’s former agent, Luis Ruzzi.

'De Rossi very important for Boca'

Mauro Zarate has asserted that Daniele De Rossi played a ‘very important’ role in Boca Juniors’ title success, despite his lack of games.

Zarate spent several years in Italy, playing for the likes of Lazio, Inter and Fiorentina, and he admits the country’s struggles to contain coronavirus have hit home.

“I often talk to him, in fact I did recently. It’s all very complicated in Italy,” the 3e-year-old told Ole.

Ex-Serie A ace to replace Zlatan?

LA Galaxy are reportedly planning to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic with former Lazio, Inter and Fiorentina striker Mauro Zarate.

Ibrahimovic’s contract with the Galaxy expires on December 31, and the Swedish veteran seems to be on his way out of the MLS club.

According to TyC Sports, their coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto has specifically requested Zarate to fill the impending void in his attack.

Zarate: Regret leaving Lazio, Kolarov…

Mauro Zarate ‘regrets’ leaving Lazio in 2011 but ‘dreams’ of a return and criticised ex-Aquile teammate Aleksandar Kolarov for joining Roma last summer.

Zarate spent four seasons at Lazio – the first two of which were alongside Kolarov – scoring 33 goals in 124 appearances for the Biancocelesti and winning a Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa, but the Argentine attacker departed over a contract dispute.

Zarate: 'I want Lazio comeback'

Striker Mauro Zarate reveals he wants a return to his old club Lazio. “I spoke to Simone Inzaghi and told him to call me back.”

The Argentine forward wore the Biancocelesti jersey from 2008 to 2011, then returned from a loan spell at Inter for the 2012-13 season.

“I would love to return to Lazio, even if it’d be difficult at the moment,” Zarate told Goal.com.

He turns 31 next month and is currently on loan at Velez Sarsfield from Watford, having until January been on loan with Al-Nasr.
