Serie A stars up for African awards

Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Milan’s Ismael Bennacer are in contention for the 2019 African Player of the Year award.

Koulibaly has been a virtual ever-present in the heart of the Napoli backline and was also nominated for the award in 2018.

Bennacer, meanwhile, was awarded Player of the Tournament at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations as he helped Algeria win the trophy.

The midfielder was signed by Milan on the strength of his displays for Empoli last season.

Roma target Ziyech costs €35m

Former Roma transfer target Hakim Ziyech of Ajax is on the market with a €35m price-tag, according to De Telegraaf.

The 26-year-old right-sided winger was on their radar for months when Monchi was director of sport, but the valuation was considered too high at €40m.

However, the Morocco international had a gentleman’s promise with Ajax to let him leave this summer and it’s reported in the Netherlands that they’ll accept €35m.
