Report: Chiellini injury not serious

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini should be back in two weeks as it is reported Chelsea’s Gary Cahill rejected the Bianconeri.

Chiellini will undergo tests to determine the extent of his suspected calf injury on Friday, but Sky Sport Italia reports he will only miss two weeks of action.

That would make him available for Juve’s Champions League last-16 tie with Atletico Madrid.

Report: Juve offered Cahill

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is being linked with a deadline-day switch to Juventus.

According to Sportitalia, Cahill has been offered to Juve as a short-term solution, given they recently sold Medhi Benatia and lost Leonardo Bonucci to an ankle injury.

The Evening Standard confirms the Englishman [pictured, right] can leave the Blues on loan, providing his wages are paid in full.

However, the newspaper warns his family are reluctant to move so the 33-year-old seems set to stay put.

Cahill set for Fulham

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill was linked with Milan, Roma and Inter, but seems to be staying in England with Fulham.

The veteran former captain is no longer part of Coach Maurizio Sarri’s plans for this season.

He had been floated as an option for Serie A sides seeking mature reinforcements in the January transfer window.

However, it looks as if the only Italian Cahill will be working with is Claudio Ranieri, as a loan move to Fulham is imminent for the 33-year-old centre-back.

Roma and Inter offered Cahill

After talks with Milan failed, Italian reports now state Chelsea offered Gary Cahill to Inter and Roma.

The 33-year-old centre-back will be out of contract at the end of the season and is not part of Coach Maurizio Sarri’s plans.

He had been in negotiations for a move to Milan, but that option seems to have been abandoned, as the Rossoneri are more focused on Cesc Fabregas.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Chelsea and Cahill’s agents are still pushing him towards Serie A, proposing the player as a January buy for Inter and Roma.

According to multiple sources, including La Gazzetta dello Sport and the Corriere dello Sport, the two clubs are continuing talks ahead of the January transfer window.

Fabregas will be a free agent in June, so Milan are hoping to take the midfielder for a cut-price fee or even on loan until the end of the season.

Milan continue Fabregas talks

Milan continue negotiations with Chelsea for Cesc Fabregas, amid reports he can make the move in January for around €12m.

For the last few days, Radio Rossonera have been stating that director Leonardo was in conversations with Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia.

Several players are on the table, including Gary Cahill and Andreas Christensen, but Fabregas is the main objective.

This is because both Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura are out for several months with injuries, so reinforcements are needed in midfield.

Cahill reveals Mertens apology

England international Gary Cahill revealed an anecdote showing Napoli and Belgium striker Dries Mertens is “obviously a decent fella. I really respect him for that.”

The pair met in unfortunate circumstances during a friendly just ahead of Euro 2012, when Mertens shoved Cahill in the back and he clattered into teammate Joe Hart.

A fractured jaw ruled Cahill out of the tournament and they’ll meet again on Thursday in the 2018 World Cup in Kaliningrad.
