Player Ratings: Italy v Finland

Azzurri fans saw much the same fare as they did against Scotland, their side beating a spent Finnish team 2-0 and answering few of the many questions that they have coming into Euro 2016. Edo Dalmonte rates Antonio Conte’s Italy.

Much like his season at PSG, he had precious little to do. Fans who would have preferred to see Mattia Perin or Marco Sportiello (or anyone who plays on a regular basis, for that matter) would have been disappointed either way. Trainspotter.

Zaza: 'Italy need confidence'

Simone Zaza told Italy to “realise we can have our say” and have confidence against Belgium in Euro 2016.

Their tournament opener is on June 13, so this evening the Azzurri had their final friendly teat, beating Finland 2-0.

“I am satisfied because we gained even more confidence and put in a good performance against a side that defended well.

“I think the team can do even better, but we are on the right track,” Juventus striker Zaza told Rai Sport.

Sturaro joy at Italy debut

Stefano Sturaro was “happy” at making his senior Italy debut against Finland. “We want to amaze everyone” at Euro 2016.

The Juventus midfielder came off the bench in tonight’s 2-0 friendly victory.

“I am happy, the team victory is the most important thing and my debut is a personal joy,” he told Rai Sport.

“I thank the Coach for this call-up. I will always train at 100 per cent and if needed I’ll try to give a hand.

Giaccherini: 'Anyone could start for Italy'

Emanuele Giaccherini warned “we are all at the disposal of the Coach and next time it could be our turn” after Italy beat Finland 2-0.

“It was a good test and not easy, as Finland sat back and we knew it would be difficult to find spaces. Once we took the lead, it became easier,” the Bologna midfielder told Rai Sport.

El Shaarawy 'enjoying Italy role'

Stephan El Shaarawy “really likes” his new role covering the entire left flank for Italy after a 2-0 win over Finland.

“We arrive at the Euros with a lot of confidence, aware of our strengths and it’s better if they don’t treat us as favourites,” the Roma winger told Rai Sport.

“We will try to put in a great performance against Belgium. We are improving with each game and tonight had a good performance.

The Lazio midfielder converted a penalty and set up Daniele De Rossi’s header in tonight’s friendly.

Conte: 'Azzurri step up tempo'

Antonio Conte defended Thiago Motta’s performance and warned Italy “need to improve the tempo, intensity and some tactical situations.”

The Azzurri earned a 2-0 win over Finland in Verona this evening, as Antonio Candreva converted a penalty and set up Daniele De Rossi’s header in the last test before Euro 2016.

“We are working, I confirm what I said before, which is we must take it one game at a time,” the Coach told Rai Sport.
