Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne has pulled out of the Italy squad with a muscle injury.

Insigned picked up the problem during Napoli’s 4-3 defeat to Juventus on Saturday.

A statement on the FIGC’s website confirms the 28-year-old has since left the Azzurri’s camp in Casteldebole and returned home.

He has already been replaced in Roberto Mancini’s squad by Freiburg winger Vincenzo Grifo.

Mancini: Kean & Zaniolo punished

Roberto Mancini confirms Moise Kean and Nicolo Zaniolo were left out of his latest Italy squad as punishment. “Professionals must always behave well.”

Kean and Zaniolo were Italy’s breakout stars of last season, but the pair courted controversy earlier in the summer as they showed up late for a team meeting ahead of a crunch European Under-21 Championship fixture with Belgium.

“My team is already quite defined,” Mancini said at a Press conference.

Italy: D'Ambrosio in for De Sciglio

After Giorgio Chiellini, now his Juventus teammate Mattia De Sciglio has also pulled out of the Italy squad, replaced by Inter’s Danilo D’Ambrosio.

The Azzurri go into Euro 2020 qualifiers against Armenia and Finland.

Coach Roberto Mancini has already been forced into one change after Chiellini tore his ACL in training, an injury that will keep him out for around six months.

The veteran made way for Lazio centre-back Francesco Acerbi.

Italy have called up Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi for games against Armenia and Finland after Giorgio Chiellini’s serious knee injury.

Italy: Pellegrini in, Kean & Zaniolo out

Italy have called up Luca Pellegrini and Stephan El Shaarawy for September’s Euro 2020 qualifiers, but Cristiano Biraghi, Moise Kean and Nicolo Zaniolo are out.

Pellegrini is rewarded for his breakout few months on loan at Cagliari, which earned him a permanent transfer to Juventus.

There is also a place for El Shaarawy, despite the winger’s decision to leave Europe for Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua earlier in the summer.

However, Biraghi is left out just a day after he completed a return to Inter.

Euro 2020: Finland stun Bosnia

Bosnia-Herzegovina suffered a surprise 2-0 defeat away to Finland, meaning Italy can beat Greece to go three points clear in their Euro 2020 qualifying group.

Teemu Pukki scored both goals in the second half under torrential rain in Tampere, as Bosnia were repeatedly caught out on the counter-attack.

Roma striker Edin Dzeko had the best chance to get Bosnia back into it, but turned a free header over from point-blank range.

Elsewhere in the group, Armenia defeated Liechtenstein 3-0.

Liecht at the end of the tunnel?

It was heartening to see an Italy goalfest after what felt like years, but Giancarlo Rinaldi won’t get too excited about thrashing 10-man Liechtenstein.

The middle road is not one often taken by football fans, particularly Italian ones. We lurch from profound despair over a defeat to ecstatic joy in victory - sometimes in the space of a few days. It is something which supporters are allowed to indulge in, of course, but Roberto Mancini will surely be working to avoid.

A 2-0 victory over Finland had many decidedly underwhelmed, but the Stadio Tardini was the scene of an all-you-can-eat goal buffet against Liechtenstein.
