Official: Cagliari buy Cacciatore

Cagliari have officially purchased versatile defender Fabrizio Cacciatore from Chievo Verona following a loan spell.

Both clubs released statements confirming that the veteran would make his stay with the Rossoblu a permanent one.

Cacciatore spent three-and-a-half years at the Bentegodi, scoring five goals in 104 games for the Flying Donkeys.

The 32-year-old has put pen to paper on a contract that ties him to Cagliari until 2020.

He joined the Sardinians on loan in January and went on to play seven times for them in Serie A.

No ban for Cutrone

Milan striker Patrick Cutrone won’t be banned for his handball goal against Lazio, as the Lega Serie A rules it was unintentional.

The youngster opened the scoring against Lazio on Sunday, but replays showed that he had diverted the ball in with his arm.

The officials opted not to consult VAR, but the disciplinary board requested footage of the incident to determine whether he had deliberately handled the ball.

If he had been found to have done so, he could have banned for two matches for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Cacciatore sorry for handcuffs gesture

Chievo defender Fabrizio Cacciatore has publicly apologised for the "unprofessional" ‘handcuffs’ gesture that saw him sent off against Juventus.

The Flying Donkeys were already down to 10 men when Cacciatore made the gesture in protest at the referee, both in front of him and then behind his back as he stood at the touchline.

“I apologise publicly for the gesture I made, it was an enormous error,” wrote Cacciatore on Instagram after the 2-0 defeat.

Juve thank Chievo suicide

It was drab, uninspired and enlivened only by two moments of Chievo madness, but Adam Digby and Juventus will gladly take the points.

We’ve learned not to expect surprises when Juventus step into the Stadio Bentegodi. Every time the Bianconeri travel east to take on Chievo, the match unfolds in almost exactly the same way. Their resilient opponents put up a strong fight, seemingly packing the entire population of the Veronese suburb behind the ball, Rolando Maran instructing them to relinquish possession, maintain their shape and deny the visitors the time and space they need to create an opening.

Maran slams 'nit-picking' ref

Chievo Coach Rolando Maran was furious with the “nit-picking” referee who left them down to nine men against Juventus.

Samuel Bastien received two yellow cards in the space of two minutes, but the tension really escalated when Fabrizio Cacciatore was shown a straight red for making the ‘handcuffs’ gesture.

Only after these incidents did Juve break through, eventually winning 2-0 through Sami Khedira and Gonzalo Higuain goals.

Bologna snatch Chievo thriller

Bologna snatched a 3-2 thriller in Verona when down to 10 men, as Chievo man Fabrizio Cacciatore went from hero to zero in a heartbeat.

Mattia Destro opened the scoring within three minutes with his header from a corner, but Roberto Inglese replied in similar fashion.

Simone Verdi turned in the rebound from a poor Stefano Sorrentino parry on Adam Masina and there were desperate goal-line clearances at either end on Verdi and Sergio Pellissier.

Gianluigi Donnarumma [Milan]

Once again Milan’s last line of defence stood up to the task and pulled off a handful of significant saves including an outstanding one that denied Luca Torriera. If Milan manage to achieve something this term a lot will be down to their tenacious teenager. Exceptional.
